This is the gesture of answering "good." These are the hidden meanings: one finger is to stimulate the lotus of wisdom, two fingers combined are to summon the female, the left hand is the emptiness of wisdom, the thumb is the secret place of skillful means, holding them is explained as the meaning of combining them. Then, in order to ask whether the guru's instructions and vows are consistent, or whether it is the same person, for the gesture of the degree of realization, asking the degree of realization of empowerment: the ring finger refers to the third finger counted from the finger, called the nameless finger. Therefore, the questioner extends the ring finger, that is, showing the ring finger, is asking whether the bliss of the third empowerment is realized without a name. In response, the respondent extends the little finger, that is, showing the little finger, meaning that not only the third empowerment is realized, but also the fourth empowerment, because the little finger is the fourth finger counted from the finger. Asking about the middle way: the middle finger is the middle of the five fingers, therefore, the questioner shows the middle finger, is asking whether one abides in the middle way. The index finger is close to the middle finger, therefore, in order to indicate closeness to the matter being asked, extending the index finger, that is, showing the index finger, is acknowledging the meaning of the matter being asked. Asking whether the thoughts are purified: the questioner shows the ring finger, is asking whether there are no discriminations. The answer to this is to fully show the throat, just as the subtle place of the body is the throat, it is to fully show subtle discriminations. The gesture of merit: the questioner shows the clothes, is asking whether one possesses the clothes of merit. The answer to this is to press the little finger with the thumb, fully showing the fingertips of the three fingers, meaning possessing the yoga of channels, winds, and bindus, or possessing the three merits of bliss, clarity, and non-discrimination, this is the gesture of answering. As stated in the sutra, showing the head with the foot on the cushion of clothes, it also appears in other commentaries and Indian commentaries, that is, straightening the middle finger and index finger. The gesture of relative bodhicitta: showing the breast, is asking whether one is able to stimulate the wisdom of bliss. The answer to this is to fully show the position of the forehead, that is, the hairline, meaning possessing the experience of the ultimate four joys, this is the gesture of answering.

The signs of whether Bodhicitta is stable or not: If someone puts their hand on the ground and points to the ground, it is a sign of asking whether the realization of suchness is as stable as the ground. The answer to this is that the sky should be fully displayed, and like the sky, it is constant and stable, which is the sign of the answer. Here, showing the ground in front of the master is asking whether the realm of the lineage, the Tathagatagarbha, has been realized. Joining the tips of the thumb and little finger to show the shape of a round wheel, it is said that this is shown in a way that represents the cycle of cause, path, and result, which is the view of the Indian commentaries. In other translations, the statement "show its wheel" is consistent with this, so it can be well understood. Some explain it as showing the mouth, and other tantras also have such statements. The meaning is that the emptiness inside the mouth represents the sky, which is the same as the former. The sign of whether Bodhicitta is growing or not: If someone shows the wrinkles of the forehead, it is a sign of asking whether Bodhicitta is growing. The answer to this is to untie the topknot, which is a sign that Bodhicitta is extremely growing from all the channels. The sign of the place: If the questioner points to the forehead of the person being asked with their hand, it is a sign of asking whether the place of the Dakini of the body has manifested. The answer to this is to fully show the back, which is to fully show the back of the head in a way that turns away from the external place. The sign of the ground and path (stages): If the person giving the signal shows the sole of the foot, it is a sign of asking whether they are going upwards from the bottom, higher and higher. The answer to this is to play with the belly, meaning that when children play, they put a leather ball on the instep of their foot and throw it higher and higher, playing and frolicking upwards, which is called playing with the belly. In accordance with this, the answer to the sign is made by saying that through coemergent union, one goes higher and higher from the bottom, which is answering with a sign. In this way, by asking through the signs of the mudras, and through the signs of the answers of the mudras, one can know the distinction between the vows that are superior and not superior. Therefore, there are eleven signs of asking and eleven signs of answering in sequence.
