In places where anger disturbs the mind, and where one feels ashamed due to worldly attachments, resulting in discouragement and shrinking back, or completely abandoning the desire for temporary worldly pleasures and the fruits of common achievements. As Shantideva says here, 'Sleep is a great obstacle for yogis, and dependence on sustaining the body is also the root of obstacles for yogis.' Therefore, sleep, which belongs to the category of delusion, should also be abandoned, and practice should be continuous without any doubt of success or failure. These examples also show that one should avoid dullness or lethargy that prevents clear visualization, as well as agitation, which belongs to the category of desire, where the mind is not calmed by joy and memories, and regret arising from having done unwholesome deeds. The second point is: Having given the body in charity, one should then practice correctly. By distinguishing between those who are suitable and unsuitable, one should give or not give. As it is said in the scriptures, this is also the initial dawn of entering practice, visualizing the gurus, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas in the sky in front, offering the body, and then entering practice. Furthermore, in the Sambhuta Tantra, it says, 'To gather beings, one should practice the conduct of a great hero.' and 'Using life and limbs as the price, one enjoys happiness by seeking happiness.' Therefore, abandoning attachment to the body, dedicating it to accomplishing the benefit of all beings as infinite as space, having given the body in charity, abiding in the discipline of unwavering Bodhicitta, donning the armor of patience, and then correctly practicing diligent practice. The latter half of the verse has three meanings: First, should one actually give the body to a beggar? Through the power of the true words of oneself and the beggar, possessing the fortune to be able to restore it, and distinguishing between those who are suitable and unsuitable, which would turn into obstacles where demons seek opportunities, one decides whether to give or not to give. Second, through the power of meditation, distinguishing between those who possess and do not possess (the ability to receive the Dharma), therefore, giving the Dharma to a suitable vessel is meaningful.
