There are four points in explaining the nature of the element: briefly indicating the meaning of the element; extensively explaining its meaning; illustrating with examples that the nature does not change but impurities can be purified; and the necessity of indicating the element. The first point is: The perfect Buddha's body radiates, and the Thusness is inseparable, and because beings have the lineage, all sentient beings constantly possess the essence of the Buddha. It is said that the Dharmakaya of the perfect Buddha radiates and pervades all dharmas, and the nature of all samsara and nirvana, the Thusness, is inseparable, and because all sentient beings possess the Tathagata lineage, the nature of the Dharmadhatu is naturally pure and can purify impurities, so all sentient beings have the essence of the ultimate Buddha constantly from beginningless time. As it is said in the sutra, the Blessed One said: All sentient beings constantly possess the essence of the Tathagata. As it is said. To this, Ngok Lotsawa Chenpo said in order: the Sugata-garbha of fruit, nature, and cause. First, the Dharmakaya is the Tathagata himself, and the nature of sentient beings is imputed, and because sentient beings can attain it, it is said to be universal. Second, it is the real essence of both the Tathagata and sentient beings, and from the perspective of the purity of the nature of the Thusness, both exist in reality. Third, because the Tathagata is its cause, it is nominally called the Tathagata-garbha, and the nature of sentient beings is real. Here, the noble Asanga said: In short, the Blessed One said that all sentient beings possess the essence of the Tathagata in three ways, namely: the Buddha's wisdom enters the assembly of sentient beings, the nature is immaculate and non-dual, and the Buddha's lineage is established by this, so it is said that all beings possess the Buddha-garbha. In order to reveal these three meanings without difference in all the scriptures, it will be explained according to these three meanings. For example, all sentient beings are radiated by the Dharmakaya of the Tathagata, and the Thusness of the Tathagata is inseparable, and the Tathagata

It is said, "Because there is lineage," etc. Some commentarial texts do not contain this verse. However, Ngok Lo, Kon Zhon, Rongton, etc., have extensively quoted and explained it, and Jonang Jetsun Chenpo, etc., have also extensively commented on it, but it seems to be missing in the current texts. The second part has three points: briefly indicate with summary words, elaborate on its meaning, and summarize the content of the explanation. The first point is: As it is said, "Essence, cause, effect, action, possession, entry, and, state, thusness, all-pervading meaning, constant, unchanging, qualities without distinction, are said to be the intent of the ultimate realm." The meaning of purity of essence and cause, the meaning of accomplishment of effect and action, the meaning of possessing a collection of qualities, the meaning of entering through the distinction of individuals, the meaning of merely distinguishing the name of the state, the meaning of all-pervading like the sky, the meaning of constant and unchanging time, the meaning of qualities without distinction, these ten meanings are the Dharma-nature, the ultimate truth, the Dharma-realm, the intention of self-nature's complete purity, which should be understood as well-separated and determined. The second part has eight points: the meaning of essence and cause, the meaning of effect and action, possessing, entering, state, all-pervading, unchanging, and the meaning of qualities without distinction. The first point has two: jointly explain what is to be purified and what purifies, and separately explain the specific differences of each essence. The first point is: As it is said, "Like jewels, sky, water are pure, always naturally without afflictions, Dharma desire, higher wisdom, and, Samadhi, compassion are born from." Just as jewels, the sky, and rivers are naturally pure, the Tathagatagarbha, the Dharma-realm, is also always naturally without all afflictive stains and is completely pure, which is the meaning of essence. Faith in the Mahayana Dharma, the higher wisdom that realizes selflessness, the immeasurable Samadhi that possesses bliss, and the great compassion that focuses on sentient beings are the causes that purify temporary stains, and what arises from them is the realization of Bodhi, which should be known.
