How excellent is the sentient being? The hairs are fine, smooth, and each one Spirals upwards to the right on the body, The head hair is stainless, like a precious blue lotus. Like the perfect circle of a banyan tree, Like Samantabhadra, the unparalleled great sage, Possessing the power of a son without craving, a solid body, Inconceivable are the thirty-two marks. The Teacher proclaimed these as the marks of a ruler. Like the moon's reflection in a cloudless sky, As seen in an autumn lake of blue water, Likewise, the assembly of the Buddha's heirs sees the form of the all-pervading lord, Within the mandala of the perfect Buddha. The sixty-four qualities, Each of these possesses its own cause, Know them as the followers of the precious Sutra, in their proper order. Irreversible and not inferior, Unequaled and unwavering, The vajra, lion, pure space, Are shown as examples of the moon in water. Among the powers, the six powers, Three and one in order, Because of equally entering into what is to be known, And completely eliminating all imprints, Like armor, walls, and trees, Because of piercing, destroying, and cutting off. Not solid and not enduring, Therefore, the sage's power is like a vajra. Why is it not solid? Because of essence. Why is essence the basis? Why is solidity not made? Because it is irreversible, like a vajra. Fearless and without attachment, Steadfast and with perfect skill, The capable one, a lion like a lion, Has no fear in the assembly of attendants. Through all-manifesting wisdom, from whatever, He dwells without fear. Pure beings and also self, Seeing inequality, there is no attachment. The mind, for all phenomena, Being one-pointed, is steadfast. Surpassing the ground of extreme ignorance and imprints, Therefore, possessing skill. Worldly hearers are solely Practicing and wise, self-born, From higher to higher, minds are pure, Subtle, therefore there are five examples. For the sake of the sustenance of all the world, They are like earth, water, fire, and wind. Worldly and beyond worldly, Transcending characteristics, like space. These thirty qualities, These two are well distinguished by the Dharmakaya, Like the light, color, and Shape of a precious jewel, without distinction.

What are the qualities that satisfy when seen? They are called the thirty-two. The emanation body is perfected in Dharma, Relying on the two enjoyment bodies. ༈ From those near and far, In the mandala of the world's victors, Like water, sky, and the shape of the moon, Seeing them is of two kinds. The chapter on qualities from the Great Vehicle Treatise on the Buddha-Nature, "Distinguishing the Jewel Kind," is the third. ༈ The realm of those to be tamed, the means of taming, The actions of those to be tamed in the realm of those to be tamed, And in the place and time of those, The pervasive lord always enters into spontaneous accomplishment. ༈ Qualities, precious supreme collections, possessing wisdom, a sea of water, merit, and the sunlight of wisdom, Having definitely accomplished all vehicles, pervading like the vast sky, without beginning or end, The Buddha himself is a treasure of stainless qualities, viewing all sentient beings without distinction. The net of clouds of afflictions and knowledge is scattered by the wind of compassion of the Buddhas. ༈ What is tamed by whom, What action, where, and when? Because its conceptualization is unborn, The Able One is always spontaneously accomplished. What is the realm of those to be tamed? What are the many means of taming? Where are the actions of those to be tamed? What are those times, places, and times? ༈ Definitely emerging, its reliance, Its result, its complete holding, Its obscuration, its cutting, on the condition, There is no conceptualization. ༈ Definitely emerging are the ten grounds, The two accumulations are its cause, Its result is supreme enlightenment, The Bodhisattva completely holds. Its obscuration is endless affliction, And the habitual tendencies of near afflictions. The condition for destroying it at all times Is great compassion. ༈ These six places, These are like the ocean in order, And the sun, and the sky, a treasure, Know them to be like clouds and wind. ༈ Because of possessing the water of knowledge, qualities, and jewels, the grounds are like the ocean. Because of nourishing all sentient beings, The two accumulations are like the sun. Because of being vast, without beginning or end, Enlightenment is like the realm of the sky. Because of the true and complete Buddha-nature, The realm of sentient beings is like a treasure. Because of being sudden, pervasive, and unestablished, Its afflictions are like a collection of clouds.
