Thus. May you be perfectly awakened! Thus it is said. Temporarily obtaining the body of a deity free from desire. The scholar Nagarjuna also said: "Enjoying the pleasures of desire and suffering, and the four meditations that completely eliminate them, one obtains the same fortune as Brahma, the Clear Light, the Virtuous Increase, and the Great Fruit deities." This is the sixteenth chapter on the Perfection of Meditation from the Ornament of Precious Liberation, the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel of the Sacred Dharma. Regarding the Perfection of Wisdom, the summary is: Thinking about the two aspects of faults and virtues, the essence and the divisions, and the characteristics of each difference, knowing and familiarizing oneself with them, and the seven aspects of the result, this is the summary of the Perfection of Wisdom. Thus it is said. First, it is explained that if a Bodhisattva abides in generosity, etc., up to meditation, but is separated from the Perfection of Wisdom, then he will not attain the state of omniscience. Why is that? It is like a group of blind people without a guide, unable to reach the city they desire in their hearts. Thus, in the Holy Collection Sutra, it is also said: "Countless blind people without a guide do not even know the way, how can they enter the city? Without wisdom, like being without eyes, the five perfections without a guide cannot touch enlightenment." Thus it is said. Conversely, if one possesses wisdom, just as a guide leads a group of blind people into the city, all virtuous deeds such as generosity are transformed into the path to Buddhahood, thereby attaining the state of omniscience. Thus, in the Introduction to the Middle Way, it is also said: "Just as a group of blind people is easily led to the desired place by a single person with eyes, so too, wisdom can take the merit of weakened eyes and lead beings to Buddhahood." Thus it is said. In the Holy Collection Sutra, it is also said: "Wisdom can completely know the nature of all phenomena, thereby completely liberating from the three realms." Thus it is said. Then, if wisdom alone is sufficient, why are means such as generosity necessary? It is not sufficient. In the Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment, it is said: "Wisdom separated from means, and means separated from wisdom, are both bondage."

Therefore, neither should be abandoned. So it is said. Then, if one practices separately from skillful means and wisdom, where will one be bound? If a Bodhisattva relies on wisdom separated from skillful means, they will fall into the one-sided peace of the Hearers' desired Nirvana, becoming as if bound, and will not attain the non-abiding Nirvana. Moreover, according to the view that there are three vehicles, it is believed that one is eternally bound there. According to the view that there is one vehicle, it is also believed that one will be bound there for eighty-four thousand great kalpas. If one relies on skillful means separated from wisdom, one will not transcend the state of ordinary beings, but will only become bound in Samsara. Thus, in the Sutra Requested by Inexhaustible Intelligence, it is said: "Wisdom separated from skillful means binds one to Nirvana, and skillful means separated from wisdom binds one to Samsara, therefore a union of the two is necessary." So it is said. In the Sutra Taught by the Noble Vimalakirti, it is also said: "What is the bondage of Bodhisattvas? What is liberation? Wisdom not grasped by skillful means is bondage. Wisdom grasped by skillful means is liberation. Skillful means not grasped by wisdom is bondage. Skillful means grasped by wisdom is liberation." So it is said. Therefore, practicing skillful means and wisdom separately is engaging in the work of demons. In the Sutra Requested by the Dragon King Sagara, it is also said: "The work of demons is twofold: skillful means separated from wisdom, and wisdom separated from skillful means. Knowing them as the work of demons, one should abandon them." So it is said. Furthermore, just as one who wishes to go to a city of one's desire must have eyes to discern the path and feet to measure the ground, similarly, to go to the city of non-abiding Nirvana, one must unite the feet of skillful means and the eyes of wisdom. In the Gaya Gori Sutra, it is also said: "If the Great Vehicle path is briefly summarized, it is twofold: skillful means and wisdom." So it is said. Moreover, wisdom does not arise on its own. For example, if one ignites a small amount of wood, a large and lasting fire will not arise. But if one gathers a very dry and large amount of wood and ignites it, a large and lasting fire will arise, which cannot be extinguished even if one tries to put it out. Similarly, if merit is little,
