will become. Thus and so forth it has been said. Therefore, those should be abandoned. The purification of mental activities is to abide in faith and so forth, as previously shown. Increasing discipline is to increase it through wisdom, superior wisdom, and dedication, as shown above. Making discipline pure is to be seized by emptiness and compassion, as shown above. The fruit of discipline is to be known as two types: ultimate and temporary. Among them, the ultimate is attaining unsurpassed enlightenment, as it is also said in the Bodhisattva Grounds: "The Bodhisattva, having perfected the perfection of discipline, will manifest unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment and become a Buddha." Thus it is said. Temporarily, even if one does not desire it, one will obtain the complete happiness of samsara, as it is also said in the Bodhisattva Pitaka: "Shariputra, there is nothing that a Bodhisattva with completely pure discipline will not experience the complete prosperity of gods and humans." Thus it is said. The happiness of samsara will also not overwhelm him, and he will enter the path of enlightenment, as it is said in the Sutra Requested by Sredmed's Son: "The Bodhisattva who possesses such a heap of discipline will not completely lose the kingdom of a wheel-turning king, and he is also mindful and desires enlightenment. He will not completely lose the position of Indra, and he is also mindful and desires enlightenment." Thus and so forth it has been said. Furthermore, one who possesses discipline will be worshiped and attended to by humans and non-humans, as it is said. In that same text, it says: "The Bodhisattva who abides in the heap of discipline is always prostrated to by the gods, always praised by the nagas, always lauded by the yakshas, always offered to by the gandharvas, always prayed to by brahmins, kings, merchants, and householders, always remembered by the Buddhas, and always empowered by the world with gods." Thus and so forth it has been said. In the Ornament of Precious Liberation, the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel of the Holy Dharma, the perfection of discipline
