Third, it is purified from the eighth to the tenth bhumi. Fourth, it is the state of Buddhahood. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "The generation of the mind in the bhumis, aspiration and higher intention, purity and other maturation, are considered different, and likewise, the obscurations are abandoned." Thus it is said. From the perspective of characteristics, there are two types: the ultimate bodhicitta and the conventional bodhicitta. As stated in the Sutra Unraveling the Intent: "Bodhicitta also has two aspects: the ultimate bodhicitta and the conventional bodhicitta." Thus it is said. So, what is the ultimate bodhicitta like? It is that which has the essence of emptiness and compassion, is clear and unwavering, and is free from the extremes of elaboration. As stated in the same sutra: "Among them, the ultimate bodhicitta is transcendent, free from the extremes of elaboration, extremely clear, having the ultimate as its object, stainless, unwavering, and extremely clear like the flame of a lamp in the absence of wind." Thus it is said. So, what is the conventional bodhicitta like? As stated in the same sutra: "The conventional bodhicitta is the vow, out of compassion, to liberate all sentient beings from samsara." Thus it is said. Among them, the ultimate bodhicitta is obtained by the nature of reality, while the conventional bodhicitta is properly taken and arises from expression, as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras. In which state does the ultimate bodhicitta exist? It exists in the first bhumi, the Joyful, and beyond. As stated in the commentary on the Ornament of the Sutras: "The generation of the ultimate mind also exists in the first bhumi, the Joyful." Thus it is said. Conventional bodhicitta is divided into two types: aspirational bodhicitta and engaging bodhicitta. As stated in the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life: "Bodhicitta, in brief, should be known as twofold: aspirational bodhicitta and engaging bodhicitta." Thus it is said. Regarding the difference between aspiration and engagement, there are many different views. Starting from the noble Manjushri, passed down through Nagarjuna to Namar, Shantideva considered aspiration to be like wanting to go on a journey, to attain complete perfect Buddhahood.

Wanting means thinking, and entering is like actual walking, which is considered to be the effort to achieve Buddhahood. As it is said in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life": "Just as one knows the difference between wanting to go and going, so should the wise know the difference between these two in order." It is said. Starting from the noble Maitreya, Jowo Serlingpa, who was transmitted by the teacher Asanga, the aspiration is: For the benefit of all sentient beings, I shall attain the perfect Buddhahood, thus vowing on the result. Entering is: For the cause of Buddhahood, I shall train in the six perfections, thus vowing on the cause. In accordance with this meaning, the "Compendium of Abhidharma" says: There are two types of mind generation, the non-special and the special. Among them, the non-special is: Alas! May I awaken to the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. The special is: Thus may the perfection of generosity be complete, up to the perfection of wisdom. It is said. Thus, the classification of mind generation has been explained from the aspects of metaphor, boundary, and definition. The object of generating the mind of enlightenment is: focusing on the benefit of enlightenment and sentient beings. As it is said in the "Bodhisattva Bhumi": Therefore, the mind generation is focused on enlightenment and focused on sentient beings. It is said. Among them, what is called focusing on enlightenment refers to focusing on seeking the wisdom of the Great Vehicle, as it is also said in the chapter on mind generation in the "Ornament of the Sutras": Thus, it is focused on seeking that wisdom. It is said. What is called focusing on sentient beings is not focusing on one sentient being, or two sentient beings, or a few sentient beings, but like the space that pervades, sentient beings pervade; where sentient beings pervade, karma and afflictions pervade; where karma and afflictions pervade, suffering pervades. Generating the mind for the sake of eliminating these sufferings. As it is said in the "Samantabhadra's Aspiration Prayer": As far as the edge of the sky reaches, so is the edge of all sentient beings, as far as the edge of karma and afflictions
