To enjoy, it is for the sake of enjoying the respective shares of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. Thus it is said. From the Smaller Discourse on Mindfulness, it is also said: Virtue obtains happiness, non-virtue arises suffering, thus the actions and fruits of virtue and non-virtue, are clearly shown. Thus it is said. In the Sutra Requested by Despa, it is also said: For hot seeds, hot fruits will arise; for sweet seeds, sweet fruits will arise. By this example, the wise should know that the ripening of evil is hot, and the ripening of white deeds is sweet. Thus it is said. The fifth meaning, from small actions maturing into great fruits, if considered from the perspective of sinful actions, it is also said that one experiences suffering in hell for as many eons as there are moments of thought. From Engaging in the Bodhisattva's Deeds, it is also said: If someone generates ill will towards such a prince, a benefactor, then he will abide in hell for as many eons as the number of ill will generated, thus spoke the capable one. Thus it is said. It is also said that one will experience suffering in five hundred lifetimes and so on, for even a single fault of speech. In the Collection, it is also said: Even by committing a small sin, it will cause great fear and great destruction in the next world, like poison entering the body. Thus it is said. Even a small virtuous action produces a great result, in the Collection it is also said: Even by doing a small merit, it leads to great happiness in the next world, and it also accomplishes great things, like grains ripening abundantly. Thus it is said. The sixth meaning, the so-called non-wastage, is that apart from the arising of the antidote to that action, even after countless eons, the fruit will not be lost or wasted without maturing, just as long-dormant predispositions, when they meet with conditions, will produce fruit. Thus, if one fears the suffering of samsara and believes in karma and its results, as it is said: Turning one's back on the happiness of existence, turning oneself away from sinful actions, whoever seeks only their own peace, that person is a middling person. As it is said, it is the arising of the mind of a middling person.

For example, like the seven daughters of King Kiki. Similarly, it is said in the Sutra Pitaka's Hundred Karmas Sutra: The actions of sentient beings will not be wasted even in a hundred kalpas. When they gather and the time arrives, they will surely ripen into fruit. It is said. Even in the Shorter Mindfulness Sutra, it is said: Fire may become cold, wind may be caught by a lasso, the sun and moon may fall to the ground, but the ripening of karma will not deceive. It is said. From the Jewel Ornament of Liberation, the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel of the Sacred Dharma: The sixth chapter, which fully explains the results of karma. Now, as an antidote to attachment to the bliss of peace, the cultivation of loving-kindness and compassion will be explained. Attachment to the bliss of peace means desiring to attain nirvana for oneself alone, and not acting for the benefit of others because of a lack of compassion for sentient beings; this is the way of the Lesser Vehicle. Thus: For the sake of one's own benefit, even many others' benefits should be abandoned. If one deeply understands self-interest, it will become the supreme of self-interest. It is said. If loving-kindness and compassion arise in one's being, one will not dare to be liberated alone because of attachment to sentient beings. Therefore, loving-kindness and compassion should be cultivated. From the mouth of Master Jampal Drakpa: Those of the Great Vehicle should not be separated from loving-kindness and compassion for even a moment. And, the benefit of others should be taken up with loving-kindness and compassion, and not with hatred. It is said. Firstly, regarding loving-kindness, the summary is: Classification, object, aspect, method of cultivation, degree of attainment, and qualities. In this way, through these six aspects, immeasurable loving-kindness is completely summarized. It is said. Firstly, there are three classifications: loving-kindness focused on sentient beings, loving-kindness focused on dharma, and loving-kindness without a focus. These are also stated in the Noble Inexhaustible Intelligence Sutra: Loving-kindness focused on sentient beings is for those Bodhisattvas who have generated the first thought. Loving-kindness focused on dharma is for those Bodhisattvas who have entered into practice. Loving-kindness without a focus is for those Bodhisattvas who have obtained tolerance of the unborn dharma. It is said. Here, the first type of loving-kindness will be explained.

The object of intention is all sentient beings. The aspect is the mind that desires to encounter happiness. The method of cultivating it is that the root depends on remembering kindness, therefore contemplate the kindness of sentient beings. Among them, the greatest kindness in this life is one's own mother. How much kindness does a mother have? There are four kinds: the kindness of giving birth to the body, the kindness of enduring hardship, the kindness of giving life, and the kindness of showing the world. Thus, in the Arya Eight Thousand Verses, it is said: Why is it so? Because this mother gave birth to us, this one endured hardship, gave us life, and showed us all the world. Thus it is proclaimed. Among them, the kindness of giving birth to the body is that one's own body was not born from the beginning with complete size, full of flesh and blood, and beautiful color, but in the mother's womb, from the nature of wriggling, the essence of the elements gradually grew with the essence of the mother's flesh and blood, nourished by the essence of food, and was accomplished by enduring shame, disease, and all suffering. After being born, she also nurtured us from a tiny baby until we grew into adults. The kindness of enduring hardship is that we did not come from the beginning wearing clothes, wearing ornaments, holding property, or carrying dry food. It was not that we had both food and clothing, but that we came into this world empty-handed without any possessions, without a single acquaintance, and without even knowing anyone. At that time, the mother gave us food so that we would not be hungry, gave us drinks so that we would not be thirsty, gave us clothes so that we would not be cold, and gave us wealth so that we would not be poor. Moreover, it was not like giving the child what she did not need, but she herself could not bear to eat, could not bear to drink, could not bear to wear, and could not bear to use it for the sake of happiness in this life, nor could she bear to give it away for the sake of benefit in the next life. In reality, she nurtured the child without regard for her own happiness in this life and the next. Moreover, it was not obtained easily and comfortably, but was obtained and given to the child through various sins, sufferings, and toils. If she committed sins, she would do various non-virtuous deeds such as being a fisherman or a butcher to raise the child. If she suffered, she would do trade, agriculture, and so on, day and night.
