is. It completely transcends the realm of ordinary beings. So it is said. It is also said in the Mother of the Buddhas Sutra: "The Bodhisattva Mahasattva who is completely embraced by a virtuous spiritual friend will quickly attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment." So it is said. In the Ornament of Precious Liberation, the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel of the Holy Dharma, the third chapter, which is about relying on a virtuous spiritual friend, is completed. The method is its instruction. Then, we also have the essence of the Tathagatagarbha, because it has been flowing from beginningless samsara until now. In short, the precious human body of leisure and endowment has been obtained, and we will also encounter virtuous spiritual friends. Since this is the case, what fault has occurred that we have not attained Buddhahood before? That is because we and others are all under the control of the four obstacles that prevent us from attaining Buddhahood. Then, what are the four obstacles that prevent us from attaining Buddhahood? Attachment to the enjoyments of this life, attachment to the happiness of existence and peace, attachment to the happiness of quiescence, and not knowing the method of attaining Buddhahood. Then, what is used to dispel these four obstacles? Hearing the instructions of a virtuous spiritual friend and practicing them accordingly will dispel them. How much instruction does a virtuous spiritual friend have? To summarize: Meditating on impermanence, and the faults of samsara, karma and its effects, etc., meditating on loving-kindness and compassion, and the Dharma of generating Bodhicitta, these four aspects gather all of its instructions. That is to say, the instruction of meditating on impermanence, and the instruction of meditating on the faults of samsara, karma and its effects, etc., and the instruction of meditating on loving-kindness and compassion, and the instruction of generating supreme Bodhicitta, etc. Among them, meditating on impermanence becomes the antidote to attachment to the enjoyments of this life. Meditating on the faults of samsara, karma and its effects, etc., becomes the antidote to attachment to the happiness of existence and peace. Meditating on loving-kindness and compassion becomes the antidote to attachment to the happiness of quiescence. The Dharmas of generating supreme Bodhicitta become the antidote to not knowing the method of attaining Buddhahood. From taking refuge onwards, up to meditating on the meaning of the two kinds of selflessness.

Ma. Or rather, all the teachings related to generating Bodhicitta, from the five paths and ten bhumis downwards, are included. Among them, some teachings are the basis for generating Bodhicitta, some are the objects of Bodhicitta, some are the rituals of Bodhicitta, some are the precepts of Bodhicitta, some are the benefits of Bodhicitta, and some are the fruits of Bodhicitta. In short, there is no Mahayana teaching that is not included in Bodhicitta. Therefore, all these instructions come from virtuous friends and depend on virtuous friends. As it is said in the 'Array of Trees Sutra': 'Virtuous friends are the source of all virtuous dharmas.' And: 'Omniscience depends on the instructions of virtuous friends.' Therefore, first, I will explain the antidote to attachment to the enjoyments of this life, which is the practice of impermanence. In general, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent. The Buddha himself said: 'Bhikkhus, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent.' So, how is it impermanent? Accumulation eventually leads to exhaustion, rising eventually leads to falling, meeting eventually leads to separation, and living eventually leads to death. As it is said in the 'Chapter on Categories': 'The end of all accumulation is exhaustion, the end of rising is falling, the end of meeting is separation, and the end of living is death.' So, how should we practice? To summarize: 'Classification, methods of practice, and the benefits of practice, these three aspects completely encompass the practice of impermanence.' That is how it is. Among them, if we classify, there are two types: the impermanence of the external world and the impermanence of the internal sentient beings. The impermanence of the external world also has two types: gross impermanence and subtle impermanence. The impermanence of internal sentient beings also has two types: the impermanence of others and the impermanence of oneself. Among these methods of practice, the first is the gross impermanence of the external world, which is from the wind mandala below to the fourth dhyana realm above. These are not permanent, solid, and unchanging things. Sometimes the first dhyana and below are destroyed by fire, sometimes the second dhyana and below are destroyed by water, and sometimes the third dhyana and below are destroyed by wind.
