When you do not realize that all that should be abandoned and all that should be cultivated are emptiness, and many afflictions and bad thoughts arise in your mind, you hold this as an enemy, saying, "This is robbing the life of liberation." Thinking, "This should be destroyed by emptiness," you hold these two as what should be abandoned and what should be cultivated, and when you meditate on emptiness, emptiness becomes an antidote that is lost. That is, you identify that affliction or the thought that grasps each of what should be abandoned and what should be cultivated, and you leave it without affirmation or negation. Furthermore, without realizing that the ground, path, and fruit are all emptiness, if you realize that emptiness is the supreme path to attain Buddhahood, then it is the supreme path, and all other paths are inferior. Not thinking about the aspect of skillful means is losing the path of emptiness. Therefore, by looking at the very nature of the thought that clings to the supreme of that path and clings to emptiness, you should know that everything is emptiness, without anything to be abandoned or cultivated, superior or inferior. For tantra that has not been experienced or emptiness that is fabricated by the mind, by expanding outward to all phenomena, merely thinking that everything is emptiness, or because everything is emptiness, nothing is established. Saying, "What is the use of conditioned virtue?" and despising the cause and effect of karma, this is losing emptiness by expanding it. That is, by looking at the very thing that thinks, "It is emptiness," identifying it, and placing it in its own nature, which is free from thought. These emptinesses fabricated by the mind are not entirely unsuitable in all ways. If a beginner does not meditate on emptiness fabricated by the mind, he will not be able to realize emptiness even if it is taught from the beginning. Therefore, by becoming accustomed to that very thing, emptiness will eventually be realized spontaneously, so it is reasonable to meditate on emptiness fabricated by the mind. But in the end, this is a place where the great seal is lost, so it must be abandoned. These are obstacles to the four places of loss, so you should not confuse what to abandon and what to adopt. And in that state, without thinking with the mind, leave it uncorrected on whatever arises, without moving from that original state, without doing violent body postures or holding the breath, relax and do not affirm, negate, abandon, or adopt any thoughts of good, bad, or neutral, but let them be free and naturally at ease without grasping whatever arises. This is the third point. Also, if you are very happy to meditate on thoughts and afflictions, so that at some point thoughts become coarse and numerous, meditat

Ma. If strong distrust agitates, then thoughts arise as enemies. That is, recognizing the very nature of the thought itself, and identifying that very thought, not regarding it as a fault, but thinking of it as kind. If it is made the essence of meditation, then one's own nature will appear as the dharmakāya free from elaboration, and one should maintain it as such. Previously, whatever afflictions arose were eliminated through emptiness, but sometimes afflictions such as desire arise involuntarily, and then one takes afflictions as enemies. That is, recognizing the nature of whatever affliction arises, and abiding without affirmation or negation, thus purifying itself without abandonment, and appearing as clear and comfortable. On the basis of non-conceptual emptiness, as it is said to transform conceptual thoughts into the path, one naturally goes towards purification, and one should act accordingly. If one searches for the mind through analysis but does not find it, and thus sees that all phenomena are without inherent existence, and thus despises all abandonment and antidotes, good and evil, and the experience of emptiness becomes dominant, then all self and others are lost in emptiness, and one cannot do anything, and one clings to emptiness, this is taking emptiness as an enemy, or it is a black abyss. This also, if one identifies that clinging to emptiness, and abides without affirmation or negation, it can be eliminated, and one should abide in that way. Although one knows that appearances are interdependent, one clings to emptiness with real clinging, thus giving rise to narrowness, or one is afraid and attached to whatever various appearances one sees, and that uncomfortable stiffness is called taking appearances as enemies. That is, recognizing the nature of appearances and that real clinging, and abiding without affirmation or negation, it can be eliminated. After meditating in that way, even if faith and compassion, etc., arise greater than others, but that itself is not completely purified into mahāmudrā, but is left to its own nature. Compassion arises for those who do not possess those qualities, and one thinks that it would be more helpful to do benefit for others from these people now, and thus abandons one's own qualities without accomplishment, and engages in benefiting others, this is taking compassion as an enemy. This also, identifying that dull compassion mind, and abiding without affirmation or negation, then clear compassion will appear in the nature of mahāmudrā. By making extensive aspirations, one can eliminate enemies, and the interdependence of benefiting others will also be complete. Also, if one has not established the view, one studies minor things such as grammar and logic, wanting to first realize the view, if one thinks in this way and abandons meditation, it is called taking cause and effect as enemies. At that time, view and meditation.
