In the "Collection of Great Seal Instructions," it says that the Kagyü lineage holds the Dharma principle of "conceptual thought is Dharmakaya, and appearance is one's own mind" as a precious teaching in their hearts and makes it an unsurpassed sacred Dharma. Therefore, fortunate individuals should strive to practice this Dharma principle as much as possible, whether they fully realize it, have some experience of it, or even if they only have the wisdom of understanding it. Thus it is said. Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön said: All phenomena of samsara and nirvana are one's own mind. Mind is unborn from the very beginning, like the center of the sky. Thus it is said. Phagmo Drupa said: There should be no acceptance or rejection of body and mind. The external object of grasping and the internal mind of grasping will come to be perfected as inseparable. The so-called "whatever appears arises as its own essence" means that all phenomena of appearance and sound arise as the essence of one's own mind and do not go beyond that meaning. Thus it is said. In the Condensed View, it says: Self-awareness, free from elaboration, is just that, appearing and empty, empty and appearing. Therefore, appearance and emptiness are inseparable, like the moon in water. Thus, establish the two as inseparable. Thus it is said. In the Tantra of the Ocean of Wisdom, it says: Body and mind are inseparable, understand the key to everything through the arising and ceasing of the support and the supported. Thus it is said. Similarly, one should also understand all relative phenomena such as existence and non-existence. Lesson forty-four. Next, the second is to introduce the emptiness of mind, which is also naturally luminous. No matter what term is used, it is beyond the realm of speech and thought, and it cannot be said that it is made up of shapes, colors, forms, or the internal and external aspects of the body, etc., just like the sky. Previously, when searching for the mind's key instructions, you were asked to search. So, when asked what you saw in terms of the mind's inner, outer, and intermediate aspects, colors, shapes, its own nature, arising, ceasing, and abiding, some people answered that there was a "seeing" that could not see anything. Like that, it cannot be described or established even slightly, and it cannot be found no matter where you search, inside, outside, or in the ten directions. This is because the nature of mind is not established, so it is emptiness. It is not that the nature is established but cannot be found. Therefore, seeing that the essence of mind is not established anywhere is the supreme seeing. So, from the very beginning, is this mind unseen?

If one thinks, "What is to be done by searching for colors etc. instead of demonstrating non-existence?" It is because sentient beings, not realizing that the mind without inherent existence is indeed non-existent, have from beginningless time grasped at "I" and "mine" as true, and based on that, the three poisons of attachment, aversion, and ignorance arise, and they wander in the ocean of suffering of samsara. Therefore, for the sake of reversing that, by searching, examining, and analyzing, the root of samsara, one's own mind, is cut off at its root, and by definitively establishing it as emptiness and selflessness, one will surely see the meaning of reality without any distortion, and by ascertaining that the mind is without inherent existence, the delusion of self-grasping in samsara will be realized as unreal. From the force of that, all phenomena will be ascertained as emptiness, and based on that, attachment to all worldly affairs will be reversed, and the root of grasping at reality, the cause of samsara, will be cut off. Therefore, searching for the mind is reasonable. That great emptiness, which is not found anywhere by searching, is itself beyond all extremes of elaboration and beyond the realm of speech, thought, and expression, the emptiness of complete negation, the emptiness of "it is," the temporary emptiness, and the ultimate sphere of the nature of reality. Therefore, one should know that it is not merely something established by thinking, but the essence of the true meaning, the great emptiness of the primordial sphere. In the past, because emptiness was not seen as emptiness and selflessness was not seen as selflessness, one wandered in samsara. But here, through the power of the instructions of the glorious lama, one sees directly, in a way that cannot be directly seen, the state of emptiness of one's own primordial nature without any distortion. Therefore, rest in that state without alteration. Fifty-fifth Dharma session, forty-third aim. Third, introducing emptiness as spontaneously present: The mind, like the sky, while not moving from the nature of being universally empty, the power and radiance of various appearances arise unceasingly, and however various the appearances may arise, at the very moment of arising, it is also great emptiness. Therefore, it is called inseparable appearance-emptiness, awareness-emptiness, clarity-emptiness, bliss-emptiness. If one thinks that appearance-emptiness being inseparable is unreasonable, and that the two must be different, because if it is not so, appearance cannot arise without emptiness, and if emptiness exists, it cannot be without emptiness, then, in the phenomena within the scope of what is to be known, there is no emptiness other than appearance, and no appearance other than emptiness, appearance
