Some are in the place of being repaired, some are gradually weakening, some are completely flowing away, some are old, some are young, some are in their prime. Gradually, they will all tend towards death. Thus it is said. When death comes, this life's wealth, fame, and power are of no help, but rather become meaningless and useless because they later cause harm, and at the time of death, various kinds of worries arise in the mind. When the time of death comes, Children will not become a refuge, neither father nor mother, nor relatives. You have no refuge. Thus it is said. Therefore, I will surely die. When I will die is uncertain. I will die quickly, without the opportunity to purify sins. I will die unwillingly, with things unfinished. This life's pleasures, wealth, and power will be of no help when I die. The reason for surely dying is that in the past, one's own parents, neighbors, fellow villagers, temples, mountains, and relatives, friends, and acquaintances in the place of residence, how many of them strived and worked hard for this life, and how much did they prepare, but in the end, they did not succeed, and one only hears "He died, she died," and so on. Of the beings that have occurred in the past, exist now, and will appear in the future, there is not one who stays without dying. Even the Vajra nature body of the perfectly complete Buddha will perish, what need is there to mention us? Thus it is said, Master Asvaghosa said: On earth or in heaven, having been born, has anyone not died? Have you seen, or heard, or doubted? Thus it is said. How many bodies of the Buddhas, adorned with marks and signs, even the Vajra body is impermanent, what need is there to mention other sentient beings who are like trees in water without essence? And so on, endlessly proclaimed. One will die quickly, and when one will die is uncertain. The Abhidharmakosha says: Here it is uncertain, ultimately, ten years and the first countless years. Thus it is said, the lifespan of us Jambudvipa people is uncertain, and now we are in the stage of being fifty years old. Moreover, due to sudden causes such as poison and planets, one often sees cases where one is alive and sleeping at night, but in the morning becomes a corpse, so it is uncertain, and no matter how long the years, months, etc. pass,

Because death is near, it will come upon you without you realizing it. Just as a great archer shoots an arrow, or water flows from a steep mountain, or a prisoner being led to the execution ground dies quickly. For example, like a great archer, putting an arrow on the string and shooting it, going quickly to the execution ground without stopping, so is the life of people. Moreover, it is said in the Compendium: Friends, this life is fleeting and passing quickly, like a torrent of water flowing swiftly down a steep mountain. Children do not know this, and the unwise are intoxicated by pride in their enjoyment. Furthermore, it is said in the Root of the Tree: Like a prisoner being led to the execution ground, with each step, one approaches death. Moreover, it is said in the Collection: For example, those who are destined to be executed, with each step they take, are like approaching the execution ground, so is the life of people. Thus it is said. Dying without having time to purify sins, because life is impermanent, the factors of death are many, and the factors of survival are few, and the factors of survival may also turn into factors of death. As it is said in the Letter to a Friend: This life is full of dangers, like being struck by the wind, it is even more unstable than a bubble in water. What is more amazing than exhaling, inhaling, and waking up from sleep? Moreover, it is said in the Precious Garland: The factors of death are many, but the factors of survival are not so. These factors themselves are also factors of death, therefore always accumulate Dharma. Moreover, it is said in the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life: Before I purify my sins, I may die first. It is unreasonable to live comfortably just because I will not die today. When I disappear, that will surely come suddenly. Thus it is said. When Dharma and worldly affairs have not been completed, and thinking that things must be done step by step, unwillingly, the lord of death will come, therefore do not only pursue the benefits of this life, but pursue the benefits of the next life. Tomorrow and the next life, which will come first is unpredictable, therefore do not strive for the things of tomorrow, but should strive for the things of the next life. Moreover, it is said in the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life: Day and night without stopping, this life is constantly decaying, and it will not increase, how can someone like me not die? Thus it is said. Brave and skilled, agile and fast, eloquent, good at swimming, enjoying wealth and power, possessing wealth and strength
