One should treat all beings equally. From the depths of one's heart to the marrow of one's bones, pray to and have faith in the supreme Guru. Generate perseverance in practice. It is crucial to cultivate the Bodhicitta of cherishing others over oneself. In particular, the methods for eliminating faults in meditation are: The faults in meditation are dullness, agitation, and scattering. If dullness arises, one should sit in a cool place. Whip oneself with water and visualize whipping oneself with water. If dullness arises, one should pat one's chest. Thus it is said. If awareness is dull, one should sit in a high place with a wide view, and do abdominal exercises. Straighten the spine and, with vigorous awareness, fix the eyes on the distant mountain peak, actually whipping oneself with water and visualizing doing so. In particular, visualize the Guru in the sky in front of you, and with vigorous awareness, pray fervently. Sit in a cool place and wear thin clothes. Shorten the meditation sessions. Generate weariness and renunciation. Do not eat too much food. Do not stay near fire or the sun. Also do vigorous physical exercises. Sometimes walk and rest, maintaining mindfulness without losing it. Also practice the Brahma's Crest Jewel Samadhi mentioned above. By doing so, dullness and agitation will be eliminated, and the mind will return to its natural state. If agitation arises, one should relax awareness and eat nutritious food. Get a massage. Wear warm clothes and try to keep the mind on any object of focus as much as possible. Sometimes rest. If one still cannot control it and it scatters, then examine whether it scatters to non-Dharma activities or to Dharma activities. If it is the former, then examine whether it scatters to the side of enemies, friends, or material possessions and disputes. Wherever it scatters, it is meaningless. Because if the mind is not tamed within, even if one defeats enemies outside, there is no end to it; if one does not cultivate one's own realization, even if one takes care of relatives and friends outside, it is meaningless; material possessions are like rainbows in the sky, impermanent in an instant, so thinking about these is also meaningless. Since we have entered the Buddha's teachings, it is not merely changing the appearance of the body, but we should think that we must not let the mind wander and not engage in any non-Dharma activities, and generate mindfulness. If it is the latter, if the mind is focused on listening and contemplating, or thinking about becoming a wise and virtuous person, etc., thinking about having done or doing this and that, it is also meaningless. Because the true Buddha's teachings are
