Just like a broken rope, leave it loose. Like kneading on wool, leave it fluffy. If it's not like that, like a worm wrapped in saliva, you bind yourself. Like a tree stump on a cliff, even if the body and mind are all bound, the mind doesn't want to stay. In a state of being separated from what is to be meditated on and the meditator, don't let the mind get bored, set up a guard line of non-distraction, and let it go freely wherever it goes. Just like grabbing a pebble and letting go of a goat, it will return to its own place. Therefore, when grasping the key to holding the mind, in a state of non-distraction, knowing how to relax is the most profound. As it is said, these should be practiced at all times of focus. No matter what kind of conceptual thought arises, look at its own nature and leave it uncorrected, without being bound by acceptance and rejection, hope and fear, it is very important to leave it relaxed. Twenty-fifth Dharma talk. Twenty-second object of focus. Again, focusing the mind on a two-finger-high candle. The Venerable Dagpo Rinpoche said: Place a candle that is not moved by the wind on either side of your body, and then clearly show its image on a clean mirror, and focus your mind on the clear and unwavering image. As it is said, it should be practiced. Alternatively, focus the mind on the empty space, such as the size of a palm, the size of a roof, the size of the inside of a house, the size of the inside of a valley, the size that the eyes can reach, the size that fills three thousand worlds. Or, because it is the place where consciousness gathers, focus the mind on a white mustard seed-sized spot inside the triangular bone between the eyebrows. For these objects of focus, do not make conceptual distinctions such as size, thickness, color, etc., but keep them in their natural state. The three, candle, sky, and spot, even if the object of focus is pointed in the same direction, it is necessary to be diligent in focusing on any clear object. Twenty-sixth Dharma talk. Twenty-third object of focus. The second is from the Samadhiraja Sutra: With a body like the color of gold, The protector of the world is beautiful in every way, Whoever places their mind on that object, That Bodhisattva is called Samadhi. As it is said, if you focus your mind on the body of the Tathagata, immeasurable qualities will increase, therefore focus your mind on the Tathagata: In front

Upon a throne and a lotus, sun, and moon cushion, the perfectly complete Buddha Shakyamuni, with a body color like pure gold, one face and two arms, possessing the earth-touching and meditative mudras, adorned with the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks, wearing the three Dharma robes beautiful like red clouds at dusk, seated in the vajra posture, radiating light and rays, possessing the supreme form, teaching the Dharma with great joy for himself, visualize clearly. "Whoever remembers the Buddha, the Teacher resides before them." With this certainty, generate the certainty that the Teacher is present before you, and with the thought that it is fortunate to behold the body of the Victorious One and to remember, generate strong faith and reverence, without being distracted by other thoughts, focus single-mindedly on that alone, and hold the mind. If the three of dullness, sinking, and darkness occur, focus the mind on the crown of the head, the urna hair, or the mandala of the face. If excitement and agitation occur, focus the mind on the navel of the body, the soles of the feet, or any part of the edge of the cushion. When there is neither dullness nor agitation, focus on the entire body or the auspicious knot at the heart. If you cannot remain there, mentally enumerate and count the major marks from top to bottom and from bottom to top in order, and focus on that. Twenty-seventh Dharma session, twenty-fourth object of focus. Second, holding the mind inward: In your own heart, at the center of an eight-petaled lotus, generate any chosen deity in the manner of the five manifest enlightenments, or the three rites, or instantaneous recollection and completion, or if you have faith in the lama, meditate on the lama. If the mind does not remain on the face, hands, etc., focus the mind on its essence, which is a very white, clear, and luminous sphere of light. These are the meanings of tying the elephant of the mind to the pillar of the object of focus with the rope of mindfulness. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Relying on the object of focus, the non-object of focus is greatly born." Twenty-eighth Dharma session, twenty-fifth object of focus. Third, holding the mind on the objectless: Focus the mind on all external and internal phenomena as a great emptiness all at once, or gradually dissolve the phenomena, one dissolving into another, and remain in the state of emptiness, luminosity, and objectlessness. At this time, appearances and sounds
