Famine will occur. Furthermore, if merely resting the mind in a state of comfortable ease is regarded as meditation, that is not encompassed by insight, or even if it is regarded as meditation, all doors of appearance must be blocked, and even if they are not blocked, they will rise as enemies, so it is no small matter. Furthermore, if not holding any thoughts of the three times in mind, but regarding a blank emptiness as meditation, that is also not encompassed by insight, and it is a great fault of blocking appearances, and even if it is regarded as meditation, it is no small matter because one does not want the doors of appearance and appearances. Furthermore, if cultivating whatever appears and arises without separating from the grasping of non-truth, that is faulty, called grasping at non-existence. Furthermore, if regarding not doing acceptance or rejection of all appearances without mindfulness as meditation, that is abiding in equanimity, just that. I have not seen these as Mahamudra meditation, and each has its own way of accumulating karma. Furthermore, if only taking non-thought as meditation in a clear and limpid mind, then it is permissible for thought to subside on its own and for awareness to be clear and without conceptualization to be meditation, but because of the appearance of wanting non-thought at all costs, it is one-sided. Similarly, when conceptual thoughts arise, it is also one-sided to cut off their continuation and settle into clarity and non-thought, because neither movement nor appearance is settled. Furthermore, if one makes a conscious effort to be mindful and only takes a clear, empty, and stark mind as meditation, although that itself is meditation, it is a one-sidedness of being too strict because one does not want the natural state of great mindfulness to be relaxed, so one does not find relaxation. Therefore, it is very important to mistake what is not meditation, although one-sided meditation has the virtue of progressing upwards, there is a risk of becoming tired of meditation and boredom from not being able to cultivate it well, so it is necessary to discern and recognize everything in appearance, emptiness, abiding, and movement through various ways of tightening and loosening, and to cultivate what is easy to cultivate. Secondly, not being distracted from ordinary awareness is called meditation. Ordinary awareness is just how the mind's natural state abides, and that is it. If one makes acceptance and rejection and the modifications of blocking on it, it will not become ordinary awareness. Therefore, how the mind's natural state abides, how it appears, how it arises, cultivate it without being distracted by the mindfulness of self-awareness, and only give it the name of cultivating meditation. There is not even a hair's breadth of meditation that is modified by the intellect.

Therefore, to say that there is not even a speck of meditation, yet there is not even a moment of distraction, and to say that this ordinary, undistracted awareness is to maintain the mind's natural state without distraction. Therefore, if the self-aware awareness is not distracted, then the mind abides in a state of emptiness and clarity or blissful ease, or thoughts arise turbulently, or various appearances arise vividly, all of which are meditation. Therefore, do not add anything artificial to the nature of abiding, but maintain it relaxedly. It is not about suppressing the arising of thoughts or收摄appearances and abiding in non-thought, that is meaningless. The reason for this is also as before, cutting off exaggerations and introducing, the essence of mind itself, and the arising of thoughts and appearances, etc., are not many different things, but the essence of mind is one, like the uninterrupted energy of the ocean itself manifesting as waves, so whatever arises from the mind's natural state has no good or bad. Therefore, if the mind abides, then abide in the abiding; if it moves, then abide in the moving; if it appears, then abide in the appearing; and guard it with awareness. If it abides, do not deliberately fabricate; if it moves, do not suppress it. Whether it is clear and bright, empty, blissful, or turbulent, do not modify it on the basis of non-distraction. In short, if you have self-aware awareness, then everything is meditation; if you are distracted, then nothing is meditation. So for the time being, pay attention to awareness. Because awareness and the essence of mind are not different, everything is transformed into the nature of awareness, and thus happiness will arise. So, is it possible to just grasp whatever arises in the mind with awareness from the very beginning, without needing the stages of guidance? For some people with sudden realization abilities, that might be possible. But for others, if they are not guided according to the stages of guidance, they will not be able to cut off the root exaggerations of appearances and mind, and they will not be able to generate the definitive understanding that accompanies the experience of seeing the essence. So even if there is other awareness, it will not work because there is no self-aware awareness. Therefore, the meaning of the words "ordinary mind," "unfabricated original mind," etc., are all here. The view of abiding, the sutras and tantras that teach pure appearances, and the teachings of the great accomplished ones of India and Tibet all converge here. Third, there are six ways to maintain subsequent practice: In general, the necessity of maintaining. In particular, the way to maintain meditation without interrupting equanimity and subsequent practice. Cutting off places where obstacles and mistakes occur. Repeatedly practicing in the unborn to enhance. Training energy through the door of utilizing the path. Realiz
