Until one has entered the meditative state, one can recite. Having entered the meditative state during the day, it gradually appears at night. This recitation is also called the pith instruction of the meditative state. Since it is the meaning of the manifestation of the hidden [teachings] of the Unequalled Dagpo, it is the essence of nakedly ascertaining the reality. If this pith instruction is just right, then those who are naturally attached can attain in a few days the realization that would take many years to attain. If, by any means, it does not improve, then for the time being, practice the common preliminary practices as before. Fifth, there are seven ways to train skills through the practice of taking the path as practice: the time and practice of taking the path, taking conceptual thoughts as the path, taking afflictions as the path, taking gods and demons as the path, taking suffering as the path, taking sickness as the path, and taking death as the path. First: When the realization of seeing the face of meditation arises and tends towards the appearances of this life, when encountering intense circumstances, and when one does not truly recognize latent conceptual thoughts; in short, when clinging arises that makes it difficult to spontaneously transform virtuous actions into the path; in a secluded place, when the meditative state arises, in order to stabilize and enhance it, and when the above-mentioned circumstances and clinging arise, one should practice taking the path. Otherwise, abandoning the practice of the king of taking appearances and existence as the path—the reality of non-thought—it is meaningless to practice the path of antidotes. So, the time for practice is to be done in the state of equanimity and subsequent attainment. The way of practicing is from the path of secret mantra, the three of with elaboration, without elaboration, and extremely without elaboration, or the practice of Samantabhadra, secret practice, the practice of awareness yoga, the practice of gathering, the practice of surpassing all directions, etc., although there are many sayings, but here, in order to enhance the effectiveness of meditation, without contradicting the monastic precepts, in accordance with the meaning of Samantabhadra, without elaboration, extremely without elaboration, and the practice of surpassing all directions, in places such as the top of a mountain, a dangerous place, a cemetery, in front of a single tree, and at a crossroads, one should cut off speech and perform the offering of Kusulu, not letting the mind cling to the world, behaving like a wounded wild animal; not being afraid of anything that happens, behaving like a lion; not having attachment to anything, behaving like the wind in the sky; not

To act without establishing a support, like the sky. To act like a madman, without rejection or suppression. Through these five ways, transform all obstacles into the path and enhance the understanding of reality. Secondly, when thoughts of good and bad arise, and entanglement occurs, identify that thought and let whatever arises flow naturally without modification. That is, do not dwell on that thought, but gather the mind and practice the antidote of wisdom. Do not analyze the essence of that thought and determine its lack of inherent existence. Do not follow that thought, nor guard it with mindfulness. Simply recognize that thought and take that thought itself as the essence of practice. Do not judge its existence, do not intentionally reject it, nor follow it, but let it be naturally, clearly, relaxed, and spacious. In this way, any thought that arises does not need to be abandoned, accepted, rejected, established, corrected, or changed, but naturally manifests as practice. This is called transforming thoughts into the path. Because it has not yet merged into emptiness, the strong fluctuations of thoughts may initially feel uncomfortable, but they will unconsciously turn into the path, gradually merging into emptiness, and eventually, mere recognition will transform them into the path. Thirdly, when any of the five afflictions arise, namely desire, hatred, delusion, pride, or jealousy, identify it, neither reject it nor follow it, but let that affliction itself exist clearly and spaciously without modification, and it will manifest as practice. Sometimes, one can recall the object of the affliction more clearly than before, whether it is an external object or an internal being, such as the object of attachment, the object of hatred, etc., thereby greatly enhancing the affliction, and after it arises, guard it as before. For delusion, identify the dull thought, and when drowsiness occurs, guard that state without modification, so that sleep will turn into luminosity, whether it merges into emptiness or not, it will happen as before. Fourthly, when fear, unease, and panic arise due to the illusions of gods and demons, identify the thought of fear, do not reject it, do not follow it, but let that thought of fear itself be guarded clearly and openly without modification, and it will manifest as practice.
