It is so. The ultimate truth is: Saints understand without error, seeing all phenomena as unborn, which is seeing it as it is, therefore it is called the ultimate truth. Also, one cannot show the ultimate without relying on conventions, and one cannot attain Nirvana without relying on the ultimate, therefore both truths must be established. And so on, one must understand the key points of the extensive teachings. Second, exaggeration and slander refer to being confused about the path to liberation. That is, believing that the phenomena that appear, such as karma and its results, are the only truths, and that others are false. In this way, because one does not understand the principle of emptiness and dependent arising, one falls into the extreme of exaggeration by clinging to the part of wisdom that does not exist as existing. And, believing that emptiness is the only truth and that others are false. In this way, because one does not understand the principle of dependent arising such as the Three Jewels and karma and its results, one does not understand the key point that merely appearing, merely appearing can function, and one falls into the extreme of slander by clinging to the part of skillful means that exists as non-existent. In short, it is these two. Freedom from extremes, the two accumulations are the supreme path, as mentioned earlier, not dwelling on the extreme of slander, accumulating the accumulation of merit in order to accomplish the Form Body of the Thus-Gone One. Not dwelling on the extreme of exaggeration, accumulating the accumulation of wisdom in order to accomplish the Dharma Body of the Thus-Gone One. Moreover, practicing the union of these two without separation is the supreme and infallible path to liberation. Among them, the accumulation of merit is the two, generosity and discipline, among the six perfections. The accumulation of wisdom is only wisdom. Patience, diligence, and meditation belong to both, as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: Generosity and discipline are the accumulation of merit, wisdom is the accumulation of wisdom, the other three are both. Thus, it is necessary to practice the union of the two, as stated in the Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment: Wisdom without skillful means, and skillful means without wisdom, for what reason are they said to be bonds, therefore both should not be abandoned. And, the Holy Question
