After opening Yedra (ྱེ་བྲག་), there are two kinds of aspirations to make. The first is: May all of my and limitless sentient beings' pure thoughts and actions, born from the snow mountain, the streams of merit of the three wheels without defilement, merge into the ocean of the four bodies of the Victorious Ones. This means that I am the one who makes the aspiration. Mentioning all sentient beings is the conduct of a noble person, as it is said in the 'Compendium': 'Without benefiting others, there is no enlightenment.' And in the 'Sutra Requested by Ajatashatru': 'If a Bodhisattva possesses one Dharma, he will completely possess all the supreme Buddha Dharmas. What is that one Dharma? It is the mind that does not abandon sentient beings.' As it is said. The so-called 'pure thoughts and actions', pure thoughts refer to non-virtuous intentions of mind such as greed, malice, and wrong views, but virtuous intentions such as love, compassion, and the mind of enlightenment. As it is said in the 'Twenty Disciplines': 'A virtuous mind has no fault.' For example, the merchant with great compassion killed a deceitful merchant, which shortened the accumulation of many kalpas; also, when Geshe Aben (དགེ་བཤེས་འབེན་) went to visit some patrons, he carefully wiped the Buddha statue offered, and then reflected on his own mind, and found that it was out of hypocrisy of loving beauty, so he raised a handful of ashes and scattered them on the Buddha statue, and Father Dampa praised him after hearing about it. From this, it can be seen that if the virtuous intention is strong, even if the action is slightly impure, it is like being pure. Pure actions refer to the good conduct of body and speech, which must be completely caused by virtuous intentions. In this way, pure thoughts and actions, with the snow mountain as the image, the accumulation of merit arising from it, that is, the ten virtuous deeds of body, speech and mind, the six perfections such as generosity, and the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, etc., all the roots of virtue included in the contaminated and uncontaminated. These are in the image of a stream of water. Such a stream of merit should also be 'without the defilement of the three wheels', that is, away from the defilement of the clinging of the three wheels, because clinging can never become the path to enlightenment.
