Fourth, if the mind and behavior are slightly uncoordinated, then all true meditation will become a supplement to the eight worldly dharmas. The root of all Dharma lies in abandoning this life. Those who practice Dharma now have not severed the ties of this life. They have not turned away from desires, and have not abandoned attachment to relatives and friends. Because they have not given up the desires for food, clothing, shelter, and transportation in the slightest, their virtuous deeds have not become essential, and Dharma and their own minds are mixed up. After practicing Dharma, they do not see whether their afflictions have decreased, but only count the years of practice. They do not reflect on their own faults, but instead observe the faults of others. They become complacent with even a little merit. Their minds are deluded by fame and gain and noise. They do a lot of meaningless chatter. They want to combine the practice of Dharma and worldly affairs, but in the end, they do not succeed in anything. This is because they have not thought about impermanence from the beginning and have become shameless. Therefore, Gyalwa Jigten Sumgon said that the preliminaries are more profound than the actual Dharma. He said that if these four preliminaries arise slightly in the mind, then it is more pleasing than those who claim to have the recitation and practice of the four tantras nowadays. If one's own mind remains in a mundane state, then the Dharma that is done is self-deception and a waste of life. In short, if a little renunciation does not arise, then all meditation is just accumulating fertilizer on the mountain. Therefore, one must always think about the suffering of samsara and the uncertainty of death, and in any case, one must tame one's own mind. When entering the sacred Dharma, it is said that there will be demonic obstacles that hinder and diminish faith. Therefore, the signs of being possessed by a demon are: observing the faults of the guru and spiritual friend; observing the overall shortcomings of practitioners; associating with ordinary people; loosening the diligence of practice; freely enjoying desires; and not having respect for the Three Jewels. Therefore, one should think about the qualities of the guru and the Three Jewels. Generate pure perception towards practitioners. Thinking that others are bad is a sign of one's own impurity, and one should remember the example of a person with a dirty face looking in a mirror. Do not associate with ordinary people. Do not listen to their words. One must remember the faults of desires. In general, if there is no faith, then no white qualities will arise, so all Dharma must be preceded by faith. There are many kinds of faith, but the most important is trust and sincerity.

Everything is contained within devotion. The changing of birth and death, illnesses, evil spirits, and misfortunes. Hearing the biographies of past masters and the Jataka tales of the Buddha are causes for generating faith. Therefore, one must contemplate these daily to generate faith. Some people seem to have great faith when they are with their lama, but forget it after they part. When encountering obstacles, faith is sometimes present and sometimes absent. When Dharma and worldly affairs arise simultaneously, or when afflicted by illnesses, evil spirits, or other misfortunes, faith is great, but then it disappears. Abandon the practice of not having unwavering faith in one's root lama and not engraving profound Dharma in one's heart, but rather liking this and then liking that. With unwavering and steadfast faith, do not look outwards, but engage in practice inwardly. When a slight quality of Dharma arises in your mind, you will deeply understand that instruction. This will give rise to certainty about the Dharma. At that point, remembering the kindness of the lama, devotion will also naturally arise. Thus, all the qualities of the path will effortlessly and spontaneously arise. Next, at the beginning of the uncommon four preliminaries, the visualization sequence for taking refuge is as follows: A pure place, a vast and expansive pure land. It sinks when pressed and expands when lifted. In the center, filled with grass, greenery, forests, and flowers, is a lake with eight qualities, filled with birds singing melodious celestial sounds. In the center of the lake is a wish-fulfilling tree made of precious jewels, laden with fruits and flowers. The trunk is one, and the branches extend in four directions and five directions in the center, coiling like an umbrella. In the center of the middle is a jeweled throne supported by eight lions. It is covered with priceless divine garments. Above it, in the center of a thousand-petaled lotus and a full moon. The essence is one's own root lama, the form is Vajradhara, the body color is deep blue, like the autumn sky. One face, two arms, the right hand holding a golden vajra and the left hand holding a silver bell, crossed at the heart. Having a peaceful gaze. Adorned with thirteen peaceful ornaments such as head ornaments and earrings. Wearing a variety of silk upper garments and a red skirt. Seated in the vajra posture. A body adorned with marks and signs, blazing with light and filled with great joy in his heart. The crown of his head
