Thus it is said. The tantra says: "Whoever meditates on a hundred thousand divine forms, is not as good as focusing on the guru's body without distraction, even a hundred thousand times over. Performing approach, accomplishment, and recitation a hundred million times, is not as good as earnestly praying to the guru three times, the power of a hundred thousand is not even close. Whoever meditates on the completion stage for an eon, is not as good as the guru appearing for a moment in the center of one's own mind, it surpasses even twenty thousand times." Furthermore, as it says in the "Lamp Illuminating": "Son of lineage, the merit of the bodies, speech, and minds of all the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, residing in the ten directions, and all the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, arising from the vajra, is surpassed by the merit of a single pore of the master. Why is that? Son of lineage, the mind of enlightenment is the essence of the wisdom of the Buddhas." Thus it is said. The guru from whom one has heard the sutras of the Greater and Lesser Vehicles, and the guru from whom one has received the tantras, transmissions, and instructions of Secret Mantra, there is a slight difference in whether they are objects to be protected or not, but in general, there is no difference. Regarding the object of the first root downfall, whether one has broken the samaya or not is also from one's own side, it is not that one only identifies the guru as the root guru. After oneself has received the empowerment of mantra, all the gurus with whom one has a Dharma connection are objects for protecting the first root downfall, therefore, whether one has received much or little of Sutra or Tantra Dharma, it seems most important not to accumulate sins. If there is no Dharma connection, then one does not have one's own guru, although the lineage gurus are not objects of the root downfall, one should never slander them or the like. In general, do not examine the faults of sentient beings. Recognize them as mothers, remember their kindness, and cultivate loving-kindness and compassion. In particular, do not examine the faults of those who have entered the door of Dharma. Knowing them to be like people in the same boat, think only of their good qualities, rejoice, praise, and generate devotion. Especially, do not examine the faults of the guru. In the Sutra of the Mudra, "Entering into the Increase of the Power of Faith," it says: "Taking away the possessions of all the sentient beings of the three thousand worlds, and destroying all the stupas, the fault of slandering one Bodhisattva is greater. If one despises or insults a Bodhisattva due to any circumstance, then in the crying hell, the body is five hundred yojanas, and the heads, mouths, tongues, etc., are each five hundred."

It is said that for each act of slander, the tongue will be plowed by five hundred plows. Therefore, in general, the fault of slandering holy beings is immeasurable. Especially Bodhisattvas, and especially Tantric yogis, this is a very dangerous area. Know that you do not know where the holy beings and those who abide in inner yoga are. The Buddha said that no one other than a fully enlightened Buddha can measure another person. So, if you speak carelessly, or slander, it is like sweeping away your own merits with a broom. Observing the faults of others leads to one's own destruction, this is the law of nature, so it seems very important to focus on observing one's own faults. Now it is obvious that those who have no faith in the Lama and no pure perception of practitioners, many unpleasant things befall them. They are also seen as enemies by others. Inappropriate deaths and bad death omens occur. They become the object of everyone's slander. And those who respectfully serve the Lama and have great pure perception of others, happiness, well-being, and fame come naturally. Everyone praises, respects, and honors them. Good deaths and good omens, etc., these are what we have seen with our own eyes and heard with our own ears. The Kagyu forefathers said: If you see the Lama as a Buddha, you will receive the blessings of the Buddha. If you see the Lama as a Bodhisattva, you will receive the blessings of the Bodhisattva. If you see the Lama as an accomplished one, you will receive the blessings of the accomplished one. If you see the Lama as just an ordinary good spiritual friend, you will receive blessings corresponding to that. If there is no devotion, no blessings will be received at all. Therefore, do not think that there is another Buddha apart from the root Lama, the root Lama is the embodiment of all the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times. The qualities of the Buddhas are infinite, and all of these are manifestations of the root Lama. Moreover, the people who are now benefiting beings everywhere, as well as the sun, moon, herbs, and even bridges, are all manifestations of the Lama. Receiving empowerments, transmissions, guidance, and even learning to read and write, should be regarded as manifestations of the root Lama. In short, it is to be certain that the Lama is the Buddha. Buddhas, Yidams, Kagyu forefathers, etc., although very wonderful, they have not personally shown you their faces, and you have not heard their voices. Even if you meet them, they will not do more than the Lama does. The Buddhas of the past
