Because it is the body. The Ornament Sutra says: When sentient beings see you, They will know well that you are a noble being. Just by seeing, they generate supreme faith. I prostrate to you, the one who acts in that way. Thus it is said. Secondly, the marks and signs are explained in detail. The first also has two parts: the essence and the cause. The first is: Having the mark of a thousand-spoked wheel on the soles of both hands and feet, Like a turtle, because there are no intestines, the soles of the feet are level and stable. The fingers are connected by webs, like a king of swans, Without gaps, suitable for wearing finger rings, Soft like a young child, Youthful and with perfect color, This Buddha's body, the backs of the four hands and feet, the two shoulders, and the back of the neck, these seven places are tall and full. Even the shortest of the fingers is equal to the width of the palm, so they are long and beautiful. The heel occupies a quarter of the foot, so it is wide. The body is tall, seven cubits taller than ordinary people and upright. The ankles, that is, the ankles and kneecaps, are not visible. The hairs all grow upwards as if looking at the noble face. The calves are like those of an Eneya deer, full and gradually thinning. Without bending the hands, the palms can touch the kneecaps, so they are long and beautiful. The supreme hidden vajra-guhya is hidden in the secret place. The skin is golden, that is, oily, bright, and smooth. The skin texture is fine. Only one hair grows from each pore, each turning to the right and growing well. The white hair between the eyebrows is soft. If stretched straight, it is one, two, or three cubits long. When released, it turns to the right and remains, adorned with the form of a silver bump. The body, that is, the upper body, is large and full like a lion. This Buddha's arms are round and the veins are not visible. The shoulders, that is, the space between the arms, are full. Even unpleasant things appear as supreme tastes to this Buddha. The body, that is, the height, is equal to the length of the outstretched arms, like a banyan tree, or the lower body of a banyan tree is equal to the upper body of a Rhodha tree. From the navel, the upper and lower bodies are equal in size. The crown of the head is covered with a protuberance.

In an invisible manner, the head possesses roundness and completeness. Because the tongue pervades the center of the mouth, it is long, thin, and beautiful. The voice is as melodious as the sound of Brahma. The cheeks are like a lion's, as beautiful as the twelfth-day moon. The teeth are as white as the Kunda flower. The size is equal, without high or low. There are no gaps, so it is well-woven. The number is thirty-two or twenty-eight for others, but it is fully endowed with forty. The eyes are round, the center is oily and like dark blue, the two sides of which are white. The upper and lower sides are oily and dark blue. The two corners of the eyes are slightly red, and the space between the eyelashes and the eyes is like gold, possessing five clear characteristics. The eyelashes of the eyes are not tangled, oily, and well-arranged, like the king of cows. These are the thirty-two marks. Secondly, to show that by accumulating the cause of the marks, the result is the accomplishment of the marks, there are two aspects: teaching and explanation. The first is, it is called accomplishment. Where? These are the thirty-two marks. By what? The marks, that is, these thirty-two marks, what and what is the cause that accomplishes them? That is complete perfection. How is it correct? Like the manner of "The Buddha's mark dwells in the land, luminous and complete, it is supreme." Where? On this enjoyment body. The second is, what is that cause? Previously, completely doing things like welcoming and sending off the lamas. Likewise, properly taking and stabilizing the vows. Relying on the four means of gathering. Giving abundant things like food and drink. From beings who are to be killed, liberating them. And virtuous deeds such as abstaining from killing. Properly taking and increasing, etc., is the characteristic of the cause that accomplishes the marks, it is the nature. Those should be understood as it is said in the Sutra of the Collection of the Dharma of Activities of Giving. Having thus explained the marks, the second is to explain the minor marks. The Buddha's nails are red like the color of copper. That color is oily. That is high. The shape of the fingers is round. The flesh is full. Gradually thinning from the root. The veins do not protrude outwards, so they are invisible.
