One. It is called the Great Bodhi because it is the ultimate wisdom that realizes that from the very beginning, afflictions have been exhausted and do not arise. How is it established as exhaustion and non-arising? Because afflictions cannot be newly eliminated by a previously existing antidote. Because what did not exist before cannot newly arise, these two reasons should be understood as the basis for establishing the two root reasons in order. Second, regarding the views of the proponents of substantialism concerning the Great Bodhi, first, refute them with reasoning: With the path called seeing, what can be eliminated anew by the antidote that arises from the seed of discriminating thoughts that are to be abandoned? For the nature of non-arising, what can the unborn obtain? Therefore, there is no elimination or attainment whatsoever. In sequence, the arising of discriminating thoughts being eliminated, and the cessation of the nature of obstructing the arising of the unborn, non-discrimination is the nature of suchness. Or, what can the seed of discriminating thoughts be eliminated by the path called seeing? Therefore, it is impossible to eliminate. The nature of non-arising, the truth of cessation, what can be obtained by this? Therefore, it is impossible to obtain. Because what is to be abandoned and the antidote are established as real. Perceived nature, because non-cessation is the nature of things, and you establish it as existent, therefore elimination and attainment are unreasonable. As it is said: "For what is emptiness suitable," and so on. Second, refute by contradicting commitments: I, Maitreya, am amazed at what other proponents of substantialism say. What kind of words are these? The dharmas of things also truly exist, and it is also proclaimed that the knowledge and awareness of the teacher have eliminated obscurations. If it truly exists, then it should not be eliminated. The Root Wisdom Treatise says: "If there is self-nature, then it will never be without nature; there will never be such a thing." Third, divided into: the object of viewing, the manner of how to view, and the function of contemplating the view. First: For this clear and empty mind, there is nothing that needs to be newly removed by the previously existing antidote, and there is nothing that needs to be newly established as the cessation of the antidote's removal of it. Or, for this mere conventional appearance, there is nothing that needs to be clarified as non-existent, and there is nothing that needs to be established as existent, such as truth, etc., therefore it is free from addition and subtraction. Second: For the true, unbiased nature of reality, one should view it truly, that is, without grasping at anything. Third: True reality is

Now, if directly seen, one is liberated from samsara or grasping at reality. Third, the essence of the antidote, the peak practice of the path of seeing, is a special path. First, there are two: the object and the subject. The first is: It is gathered, so it is said. Where is it gathered? Each of the gathering factors, such as generosity and discipline, is. Where is it gathered? Those, such as generosity, are. How is it? Others are gathered within each other. The second is: It is said to be the path of seeing. When is it? At this time when the opposite of the antidote of the peak practice of the path of seeing is taught. Where is it? What is complete with six sixes within each paramita, is gathered by the forbearance of knowing the Dharma in suffering. How is it? In one final instant. Second, there are two: meditative equipoise and subsequent attainment. The first is: After the completion of the peak practice of the path of seeing, because there is no fear of what is to be abandoned by seeing. In the eight liberations and the nine meditative absorptions, without the practice of exchange, entering into meditative absorption in accordance with and against the order, entering into the two samadhis of the lion's complete exertion. The teacher thinks that this only shows the first lion's complete exertion, but it is not the fundamental meaning. The second is: It is said to be conceptualizing. When is it? After the lion's complete exertion. Where is it? In the twelve links of dependent origination. How is it? In accordance with and against the order of complete defilement and purification. This shows the complete practice of the subsequent attainment of the first ground, and the way it is taught is in the excellent speech of my supreme spiritual friend. Third, the peak practice of the path of meditation, the basis is the path of meditation, what is to be abandoned is conceptual thought, and the basis is the three qualities. First, the fundamental intention is shown, combined with the commentary of valid measure. The first is: Then, of the lion's complete exertion, after entering into meditative absorption in samadhi, these two lines show all the samadhis of the lion's complete exertion. In the nine meditative absorptions with cessation, coming and going in two ways, etc., showing only the leap over is the fundamental intention, in the apparent part of the previous commentary, it says, the path of meditation is also gathered by the nine meditative absorptions of gradually abiding, and those are also the meditative absorptions of the leap over.
