Ground. Fourth, the actual reason is: it is considered to be shown by one verse such as "arising and". In the second aspect, there are two types: summary and detailed explanation. The first aspect is: it is one verse such as "meditation", which is related to the reason for the non-retrogression of the meditator, related to the way of surpassing the meditation path of the Lesser Vehicle, and related to the way of surpassing the views of the lower philosophical schools. The first aspect is: what is the reason for non-retrogression? The sign of non-retrogression for those who abide on the path of meditation is profound. "That is" is a word that introduces the latter. What is profound? The profound reason is the special behavior of the subsequent body and speech that infers the meaning of liberation from the two extremes of imputation and defamation, which is drawn from the direct realization of the eleven, such as profound emptiness and signlessness, in meditative equipoise. That is what it means. The second aspect is: the path of meditation of the Great Vehicle is the subject, it is more profound than the path of meditation of the Lesser Vehicle, because it is the path of continuously meditating on the eleven, such as profound emptiness, which have already been directly seen. Emptiness and so on are the subject, it is profound, because it is the very meaning of being liberated from the two extremes of imputation and defamation. The third aspect is: the view of the path of meditation according to the Madhyamaka school is more profound than that of the realists, because in the Madhyamaka school, although the path of meditation of the Great Vehicle is the nature of profound emptiness and so on in the ultimate truth, in the conventional truth, it is not contradictory to perform the actions of abandoning antidotes, decline and growth, so it is free from imputation and defamation. Emptiness and so on are profound, because the reason is the same as before. Thus, among the three, the first is to enter the point, just as when the reasons for non-retrogression were explained to the practitioners of the path of accumulation and the path of seeing above, there were two types: summary and detailed explanation, here also two are needed, and because it abides in the treatise itself as needed. In the summary, it is stated that the reason for the non-retrogression of the meditator is profound, and in the detailed explanation, the profound itself is divided into eight. The second is also to enter the point, because in this Ornament, it is necessary to explain the superior qualities of the Great Vehicle's paths of accumulation, seeing, and meditation, which surpass the three of the Lesser Vehicle, so the Great Vehicle's path of accumulation surpasses the Lesser Vehicle's.

Therefore, the superior noble Dharma has been explained in the first chapter. The characteristics of the noble Dharma, where the Mahayana path of seeing is superior to that of the Hinayana, have already been explained in the chapter on explaining the distinctions. Therefore, now is the time to explain the noble Dharma where the Mahayana path of cultivation is superior to that of the Hinayana. Thirdly, delving into the meaning, in the fifth chapter, the explanation that the way the Madhyamaka school removes the defilements of the path of seeing is deeper than the way the realistic school removes the defilements of the path of seeing should be applied to the way the path of cultivation removes defilements. Here, the explanation that the Madhyamaka school's view of the essence of the path of cultivation is deeper than the realistic school's view of the essence of the path of cultivation should also be applied to the view of the path of seeing. Secondly, the detailed explanation. Identifying the path of cultivation that is the basis for possessing which reasoning, refuting disputes about it, thereby establishing the way of being free from addition and subtraction, and the classification of the reasoning that is established thereby and is free from addition and subtraction, there are three. The first is divided into two. The essence is: it is called the path of cultivation. Where, relying on the scriptural authority of hearing, relying on the reasoning of thinking, and the three wisdoms arising from the power of experience, or the three wisdoms arising from the practice, actual practice, and subsequent practice of samadhi, respectively, repeatedly thinking, measuring in that way, and the knowledge of definitely realizing in that way. On which object? On the objects of definite seeing in the stages of the decisive factor, the path of seeing, and the path of cultivation itself, the profound meanings previously explained. Here, the explanation from the perspective of subsequent attainment is because showing the path of cultivation that possesses the signs of non-retrogression of the practitioner of the path of cultivation is the main point of the chapter. Moreover, this reasoning is explained in terms of the special actions of body and speech in subsequent attainment, which are free from addition and subtraction, and are brought about by having already seen in equanimity and being accustomed to it regularly. Second, the classification is: it is called acceptance. Where, it is the path of cultivation just mentioned. How is it classified? Into nine types. Why? Because the samadhi of the path of cultivation, which is the cause, has fundamental classifications, namely small, medium, and large. And each of them has branch classifications, namely the smallest of the small, and so on.
