These are the distinctions of types. The first is the dedication that is superior to that of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, by dedicating the merit accumulated through faith to unsurpassed enlightenment, which is to focus without focusing on unsurpassed enlightenment. The function of that dedication is that it is supreme because it shows the path of the three vehicles and becomes the cause of Buddhahood. The second has two aspects: preventing clinging to reality and non-reality. The first has five aspects. First, preventing clinging to the object of dedication is that the dedication with function is the aspect of realizing that the object of dedication is without focus. Preventing clinging to the mind of the dedicator is that the mind has the characteristic of non-perverted perception and view. Preventing clinging to the agent of dedication is knowing that the object of merit is devoid of aggregates, etc., or agent and action. Preventing clinging to the difference between self and the Buddha's merit is that the nature of the Buddha's accumulation of merit arises conventionally and is the object of remembrance of the nature of phenomena without arising or ceasing in the ultimate sense. Preventing clinging to good and bad in the six perfections is that even if one practices the six perfections, it is with skillful means and wisdom combined, embraced by the generation of bodhicitta. The second is that there is no clinging to negation and affirmation or the sign of emptiness, that is, if there is no sign, then it is a dedication to enlightenment. The third is that all paths do not abandon the appearance aspect in the conventional sense and are not found in the ultimate sense, so the Buddhas give their approval. The fourth is that because the three realms are known to be unattainable, it does not belong to that dedication, and by extension, it is also not that of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. The fifth is that other than the nine mentioned earlier, the small, medium, and large dedications are the three types, and all three are the nature of producing great merit. The first is that it is better than all the sentient beings of the three thousand worlds obtaining the five eyes, with that unattainable object, the dedication that is preceded by rejoicing. The second is that it is better than making offerings to those who abide in the five fruits, with the dedication of that unattainable, etc. The third is that it is better than making offerings to those who abide in unsurpassed enlightenment, with the dedication of that unattainable, etc. Here, dedication is spoken of as practicing the path and with the aspect of unattainability. If that is combined with the two above and below, it is faith-practice.

Moreover, this path temporarily manifests and accumulates vast merit, and ultimately accomplishes the attainment of Prajñāpāramitā, possessing the aspect of non-objectification. The path of rejoicing also accomplishes the attainment of shared merit for oneself and others, possessing the aspect of non-objectification. This is done through such means. Thirdly, the path of rejoicing is directly stated as "speaking." Where is it? It is in this context of explaining the wisdom of the path. What is it? It is the path of cultivation that includes defilements. How is it done? Regarding the roots of virtue of both sentient beings and noble ones as objects of focus, through methods of focusing on objects, entities, and so on in a conventional manner, and through understanding non-objectification in an ultimate manner. Where is it? In the nature of the mind, rejoicing, possessing pure faith and attention, cultivating the joy of thinking, "Ah, how wonderful!" Its name is rejoicing and holding in mind. This is the method of combining the former two teachings through the union of skillful means and wisdom. The former two are not solely characterized by non-objectification, but are the union of skillful means without abandoning the aspect of appearance. Thus, the collection of subsequent merit is explained. Secondly, the undefiled must be explained from the perspective of the accumulation of meditative wisdom, so meditation will be explained. In this regard, since it is determined that there are two paths: the antidote that dispels obscurations through one's own share, and the liberation from that, therefore, the path of accomplishment and the path of purification are taught as two. First, teaching the path of accomplishment, there are essence, distinction, aspect, and function. First, the uninterrupted path of continuously meditating on the already directly seen nature of reality is its essence. Second, giving and so on, if not grasped by the Mother (Prajñāpāramitā), will not attain Buddhahood; if grasped, it will be attained, so giving and so on are superior to others, as it says, "When it is completely grasped by wisdom." And so on. Third, because all phenomena such as form are connected to non-arising, it does not manifestly accumulate. Fourth, there are two aspects. The temporary function is: to establish and generate the dharmas of the path in the mindstream without focusing on anything. The ultimate function is: through this, the great benefit of Buddhahood itself is attained.
