The dull follow with faith, and the sharp follow with Dharma. The two who temporarily abide in the fruit are: the dull are devoted with faith, and the sharp are attained through seeing. The special one is: the stream-enterer is born from one class to another in any class of gods or humans. Second, the once-returner is: the special one has one interruption in one lifetime. Regarding the non-returner: approaching in the form realm, approaching in the formless realm, extinguishing in the present Dharma, body witness. The first has three: First, among those who pass away in between: swift passing away, non-swift passing away, and passing away after a long time, three types. In the second, there are three types of birth-passing away: passing away immediately after birth, passing away with effort, and passing away without effort. In the third, there are two types of going to Akanistha: leaping passing away, half-leaping passing away, and dying and transmigrating in all places, three types. The second is going to the ultimate end of existence. Second, approaching in the formless realm is: the destruction of form. The third is obtaining peace in this life through the Dharma of seeing. The fourth is the samadhi of the eight liberations, which is the direct realization of the body. Thus, there are nineteen with the name of Shravaka. Second, when those nineteen are counted together with those with the name like a rhinoceros horn, there are twenty Sanghas of Bodhisattvas. When reciting the actual twenty, it should be examined whether it is necessary to count the three types of intermediate passing away separately. The meaning of these should be understood from the general meaning. Second, there are four ways to enter the practice of non-retrogression: its boundary, basis, object, and purpose. The first is: under the instructions, it shows the qualities in accordance with the decisive division. The first one who generates Bodhicitta listens to the instructions, and strives to understand its meaning through hearing and thinking. Until one becomes proficient in the five objects such as the Buddha, it is the ordinary accumulation path. When one becomes proficient in it, from the stage of the practice path of complete perfection, it is the qualities in accordance with the liberation division of the teachings. When one single-mindedly meditates on its meaning, and gradually obtains clarity on the four, such as the selflessness of grasping at all defilements, it is established as the four, such as heat. Here, it briefly shows the way to show the practice path that is more excellent than the Hearers and Solitary Realizers of the Sutra.

Now, according to the order of the Sutra Division, there are two ways to explain the individual characteristics. The first is called being particularly superior. By what is it particularly superior? By the characteristic of the object of focus, focusing on the sixteen aspects such as impermanence on the four truths, and by the characteristic of the aspect, the aspect of preventing manifest clinging, etc., and by the characteristic of the cause, being the cause of the path of seeing that possesses all the reasoning of the three vehicles, and by the characteristic of the complete holding, not falling into the lesser vehicle but completely holding onto the great vehicle by the two complete holdings of inner and outer, that is, by the four characteristics. Where is the path of joining that possesses the four qualities? What are the four? By the characteristic of the basis, existing in the continuum of the Bodhisattva who protects from the suffering and causes of others through the gate of explaining the path seen by oneself, the essence being the nature of the four, warmth, etc., and the characteristic of the corresponding or what is to be abandoned, possessing the four conceptualizations to be negated as they are in order, and relying on the four accomplishments of realization as what is to be abandoned, and by the characteristic of the division, each of the four also has three, small, medium, and large. The path of joining is associated with the subsequent attainment and relies on equipoise, it seems not to be joining, because it needs to be combined with the four paths of joining that are directly taught. Otherwise, the four characteristics also need to be combined with the subsequent attainment in the same way. From what? From the Hearers, Pratyekabuddhas, and those with, that is, the four co-emergent qualities of warmth, etc. Making the characteristics five is not the intention of the root, as the Sutra says, contemplation is spoken of before complete holding, but here it is quoted below, and the agentive particle "by" is added above complete holding, and as the Two Appearances say, what kind of characteristic should be spoken of for these? It should be said that it is more superior than Hearers, etc., by four characteristics, that is, the characteristic of the object of focus, the characteristic of the aspect, the characteristic of the cause, and the characteristic of complete holding. The second is, explaining in detail the three, object of focus, aspect, and cause, explaining in detail the conceptualizations that are possessed, and explaining in detail the complete holding. The first is, explaining those three of warmth, peak, forbearance, and supreme mundane dharma. The first has two, detailed explanation and concise meaning. The first has three, the first three are, impermanence relying on the four truths such as suffering.
