Do not adorn with other things, and protect until dawn the next day. Taking the vows of Uposatha by being close to an Arhat, if its limbs are incomplete, it becomes intermediate, so it is necessary to take the eight limbs completely. The time to take it is in the morning of the next day before eating. The place is from another person. In Tibet, taking it all at once is a compromise because places are scarce, it is said. In the commentary, it is said that promising to always abide in the eight dharmas can be taken even after eating. Therefore, it is evident that it also exists in India, and it is obtained with the mind determined to take it. Although it arises the next day, taking it after eating is for the sake of clarification, it is explained. It is said to take it from another person in order to avoid abandoning oneself or not transgressing even if there are obstacles. This is said in the Vinaya to take it from a Bhikshu. The Sutra of Abiding says that it can be taken from others besides that. In order to show that it does not have what is said in the summary and to show dependence on others, the vows of ordination are taken from others, and householders can take them from themselves, it is said. In the eight vows of a layperson, it is also said that a layperson takes them from a layperson. Taking it in a way other than those ways of taking it is only intermediate. Second, abandoning the naturally blameworthy is the four limbs of morality, the fifth limb of being mindful and careful, and similarly, the conduct that is in accordance with renunciation, that is, the last three limbs, are definitely eight in order. If there are no last two limbs, what is the fault? Then one will degenerate from the first and subsequent dharmas. Drinking alcohol will lose the distinction between what should and should not be done, and afternoon food will cause the memory of fasting and renunciation to degenerate, and the rest will become arrogant, and from this, licentiousness will not be far away. Third, the Sutra says that fasting is Posadha, if one asks whether there is fasting for others besides laypeople? Householders other than laypeople, if they take refuge in the Three Jewels and take it, then there is fasting, but those who have not taken refuge, forget to take it, or do not know that they have not done it, do not have it. The third has five: explaining the meaning of the Sutra, showing that all laypeople have vows. To this, eliminate internal contradictions. By the way, the difference between the size of the vows.

The difference in the place of refuge, the difference in the limbs. First, the sutra says: 'A great named householder, wearing white clothes, possessing male faculties, takes refuge in the Three Jewels and requests to be accepted as a layperson.' Just saying 'This is a layperson,' then, does a true layperson without precepts exist?' The Niyogpa says: 'It exists, just by this one becomes a servant of a monk, therefore it is thought that the meaning of the word is obtained.' The Kashmiri says: 'It does not exist, however, the meaning of the sutra is, please accept me as a layperson, from now on, I will abandon killing.' By promising this, this precept arises, abandoning killing.' That is, the words of abandoning the five killings, etc., are not explicitly stated. 'Then, is it meaningless to teach the basis of learning?' Even if the precepts are obtained, it is to know the limits of protection. For example, the precepts of a monk and a novice are obtained at the last part of the third recitation, but it is like reciting the basis of learning. It implies that the Niyogpa or the Sutra school believes that obtaining the lay precepts depends on reciting the basis of learning. To think so is without scriptural basis.' Buton said so. Second, if all laypersons are held by the five precepts, the sutra asks: 'How much does the venerable one practice, from one branch to complete?' The answer is: 'The one named Great, abandoning killing and then relapsing is practicing one branch, etc., guarding two precepts is part, guarding three or four is most, guarding five is a layperson who practices completely.' How is this explained?' Someone says: 'Initially obtaining the completeness of the five branches, later even if some branches are broken, it is considering guarding the remaining branches, so it is said to practice one branch, etc.' Called 'Strife,' it indicates dissatisfaction with this teacher, you say that it is unreasonable to ask in the case of broken precepts, let alone answer? Because it will become the cause of promiscuity for people with many afflictions, so teaching the Dharma will become meaningless.' Also, questions and answers are for those who do not know, who does not know that what is practiced is guarded and what is not practiced is not guarded? For things that are already known, do not
