Those intermediate beings who are in the intermediate state other than the paths and grounds, if they perform actions of body and speech with a weak motivation of virtue and so on, since they do not arouse manifestation, they possess non-manifestation. The second case is: a noble being whose manifestation of the previous life has been abandoned due to death and a new one has not yet arisen, possesses only non-manifestation. The reason for not giving the example of an ordinary being is that a noble being is definite in all cases, while an ordinary being abandons from the desire realm and the form realm. Even if it exists in the form realm, it does not exist in other realms, so it is indefinite. Or the fourth case is that it is based on the support of the desire realm, but its child does not have it. If someone who has abandoned the eighth level of afflictions in the desire realm but has not abandoned the ninth level dies, since they have not obtained the actual mind of the upper realm, they will be reborn in the desire realm. Then, since the two causes of abandonment have not arisen, do they have the vows of accumulation? Maha's oral instruction says that the vows of accumulation that have not obtained the actual basis are also abandoned by death. In the explanation of the cause of abandonment, it says that abandoning the same kind also abandons a little. This is because a noble or non-noble being dies. If it is thought that this is contemplating the path of application, it is not so. The scriptures say that having a body but not having the karma of the body is like a chick in an egg, etc., so it is certain that it will be abandoned by death. Therefore, since the characteristics of the path of application and the nature are the same, it should be understood that all the vows of accumulation that have not obtained the actual basis are abandoned by death. However, an intermediate person who generates merit from matter has non-manifestation, and it is possible that there is no manifestation, so there is also a second case in the support of the desire realm. Therefore, if the third answer is said to be the same as refutation and examination, then it is reasonable to say that a noble being is an approximate example. Having both is because they are in the intermediate state, performing good or bad deeds with strong motivation. Not having both refers to beings in the formless realm, etc. Secondly, there are three ways to obtain them: the way to obtain vows, the way to obtain non-vows, and the way to obtain the intermediate. The first includes the actual way to obtain and from where to obtain. The first has three: the way to obtain concentration, the way to obtain non-outflow, and the way to obtain individual liberation. The first is: how are the vows of concentration and non-outflow obtained? The vows arising from concentration refer to the ground of concentration, that is, being free from desire and birth from the lower ground.

At the time of attainment, one obtains it together with the actual practice and the preparatory mind of approximation. Secondly, the undefiled precepts are obtained through the noble path, which is encompassed by the six levels of meditative concentration. Thirdly, the common method of attainment is shown, and the differences are explained separately. Firstly, the precepts of individual liberation, being the precepts that are properly taken, are obtained through the expressive actions of the preceptor who bestows the precepts, and the expressive actions and the mind of acceptance by which one understands that one is also taking them. However, the Vinaya masters of the Sarvastivada school believe that the word "etc." implies the collection of the ten causes for full ordination without relying on expressive actions, as it appears in the Sutra Matrika, where ten are explained in the commentary. Secondly, there are three differences: the difference of time, the difference of the upasatha, and the difference of the upasaka. Firstly, the difference of the time of the precepts, and incidentally, the difference of the time of non-precepts. Firstly, one should properly take the seven classes of vows for as long as life lasts, and the upasatha vows for a day and a night, because time is the two extremes of life and day and night. Secondly, non-precepts are those who do not take them for as long as life lasts, but constantly engage in evil thoughts, so they are of the kind that lasts for as long as life lasts. There are no non-precepts for a day and a night, because there is no prior intention and the action is inferior, because there is no such taking of the upasatha. The Sarvastivadins say that temporarily engaging in evil is said to be an intermediate virtue. The Sutra masters say that non-precepts are also the intention to commit non-expressive, immaterial sins, together with habitual tendencies, like the story of the star-born, and there are those who do it during the day and night. If one does not take them, then there will be no intermediate state for as long as life lasts. Thus, this seems to consider all engagement in actions as non-precepts, and the difference between intermediate non-virtue is the preparation and the actual practice, as it is said. Secondly, there are three: the way to take them, the definite number of limbs, and the difference of the basis. Firstly, if one takes the upasatha for a day and a night, how should one take it? Since one is not sick, one sits down humbly, joins the palms, and takes it by repeating after the words spoken by the giver, and decorations, etc.
