And in the seven years, the three calamities of weapons, disease, and famine occur in sequence. Third, there are three ways of destruction kalpa: the three peaks of destruction, the reason for the existence or non-existence of destruction, and the order of how to destroy. First, how many kinds of destruction are there? The fire of seven suns, the water of rain, and the violently disturbed wind, these destructions are also three, that is, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, and the fourth dhyana are the peaks of these destructions, which are the remaining parts, in order. Second, why are the lower three dhyanas destroyed by the three elements of fire, water, and wind? Because there are faults of sentient beings in it, and the destruction of the external vessel world formed by common karma is in accordance with the law. Below the first dhyana, there is search and analysis like fire, below the second dhyana, there is joy and happiness like water, and below the third dhyana, there is breathing like wind. The fourth dhyana does not have these three destructions, because its interior is free from the faults of samadhi, so it will not shake. Some say that it will not be destroyed by the power of the Pure Abode Gods. If so, wouldn't it become a constant dharma? This is not the case, because the palaces there are not formed by common karma, but are not connected to each other like stars, and their respective karmas arise together with sentient beings, appearing at birth and destroying at death. Third, what is the order of the three destructions? Fire destroys continuously seven times without interruption, so the lifespan of the Great Brahma is sixty intermediate kalpas. After eight great kalpas have passed, water will destroy once from the Clear Light Heaven downwards, so the lifespan of the Clear Light Heaven is eight kalpas. In this way, after fire destroys seven times, each time water destroys once, after seven water disasters, after fifty-six kalpas have passed, fire destroys seven times again, and then at the end of everything, the sixty-fourth time is destroyed by wind, so the lifespan of the Virtue Increase Heaven is sixty-four kalpas, which is a good explanation. If so, in the lifespan of the Great Brahma, the twenty intermediate kalpas of the destruction and formation of the vessel world cannot be counted, wouldn't there be only fifty-eight intermediate kalpas? This is an explanation with supplementary explanations, even if the Great Brahma does not have a complete twenty intermediate kalpas, it is close to sixty kalpas, while the Clear Light Heaven and the Virtue Increase Heaven have twenty

Even if twenty-two kalpas are missing, it is close to eight great kalpas and sixty-four kalpas, so know that it is named accordingly. The commentary on the Abhidharmakosha, the third chapter in the Sunlight that Clearly Illuminates the Meaning of the Text. Fourth, regarding the explanation of karma, there are three points: briefly explain by way of connection; explain the actual content of karma in detail; and incidentally explain some categories of dharma as the conclusion. First, if it has already been denied that the various container and sentient worlds arise from no cause and non-corresponding causes, then from what do they arise? The good and non-good karma of sentient beings gives rise to various mixed worlds of good and bad. Outsiders say that the distinction between whether Ishvara likes or dislikes can make the outer container have good and bad, and the inner sentient beings have suffering and happiness, but it cannot be determined that there is only good and bad and suffering and happiness, so it cannot be said to arise from good and non-good. The answer is that even if it arises only from karma, it is from doing good deeds in general and non-good deeds in particular, or vice versa, doing mixed deeds, and arising from the actions of the individual. Second, the nature of karma, explaining the categories of karma that appear in the sutras. First, a brief explanation, a detailed explanation. First, karma can be divided into: volitional karma and karma done after volition, or mental karma. Among them, thought is in accordance with mind, it is mental karma. What is produced and created by thought is body and speech karma, because thought must precede body and speech. Thus, from which aspect are these three karmas established: the basis, the nature, or the intention? If from the first aspect, everything depends on the body, so it is the body; if from the second aspect, the nature of body and mind is not karma, so it is speech; if from the third aspect, everything is initiated by the mind, so it is only the mind. To this, the Vaibhashikas say: in the order of these three, the self-nature is established from the karma of the three doors of body, speech, and mind, that is, initiated by the mind, and the karma that depends on the body, and speech itself is karma. The Sutra School believes that karma is thought itself, and thought causes the mind to enter, or is in accordance with the mind, it is mental karma; causing body and speech to enter is karma done after volition. No matter how analyzed, form is not karma, and it is believed that good dharma has form.
