The gods of the lower realms reside in immeasurable palaces in the sky. Among them, the meaning of "free from strife" is that the gods below the Thirty-Three are accompanied by strife. If even the gods fight with the Asuras, what need is there to mention other beings? All above the Thirty-Three are free from strife, but in relation to the lower ones, the general term "free from strife" is applied to specific instances. Moreover, the gods possess abundant nectar, while the Asuras possess beautiful women. The wife of Indra, Sudarshana, etc., is also the daughter of the Asura king Sujata. Therefore, they fight because of being stingy with their own possessions and jealous of others' possessions, and also like competing with the Thirty-Three gods for enjoyment. Their dwelling place is in the hollow below the waterline of Mount Meru, at a distance of thirty thousand yojanas, there is the city of Light. There resides the Asura king Rahu. Four thousand yojanas above that is the city of White Garland, where Neck Garland resides. Four thousand yojanas above that is the city of Manifestation, where Extreme Sharpness resides. Four thousand yojanas above that is the city of General Gold Abundant, Individual Fullness, where Sujata resides. There are also the trees Citrapata, the assembly place Auspicious Wealth, the stone slab Auspicious, and the four gardens: Universal Joy, Supreme Joy, Joy, Universal Supreme Joy. The lands are the four names formed by adding the syllable "Ma" to these four gardens. The elephant used on the battlefield is Difficult to Endure, the elephant used in the garden is Tise Snow Pile, the horse king is Fierce Destroyer, and so on. The Asuras who dwell inside Mount Meru do not appear when two naturally arising Chakravartins appear. At other times, they don armor made of gold, silver, crystal, and lapis lazuli, and holding various weapons, they emerge from the waterline, rise into the sky by means of their miraculous powers, and prepare to fight. They wage war with the Nagas who delight in white and are the guardians of the gods. If the guardians of the gods are victorious, the Asuras return to their own abodes. Otherwise, they rise upwards and engage in battle with those who wield clubs, etc., and are usually able to repel the enemy. If they cannot repel them, they enter their own palaces, send messengers to the king of the gods, and request the king of the gods to be aware. The assembly of Asuras cannot be overcome by the gods of the Four Great Kings, so they request the gods of the Thirty-Three to repel them. Indra also commands the gods, and merely by thought, the elephant Great Steadfast can appear.

Coming on a garuda, taking vehicles from the garden of various vehicles, going to the garden of rough transformations, being willing to fight, arriving on top of Mount Meru and battling. The chariot of the skilled craftsman, seven hundred yojanas in size, travels swiftly, and the lord of the gods can also hold it with his left hand, and mostly the gods will be victorious. If defeated, they flee to the city of Delightful to Behold and close the gates, so harm cannot be inflicted inside. If the head and neck of a god are cut off, they die. Even if limbs are cut off, they are reborn. Asuras, like humans, die if a vital point is struck, and the images of death and severed limbs are reflected in the clear lake, so they grieve before the war begins. During battle, Rahu obscures the sun with his hand to make the gods visible, and victory and defeat, happiness and suffering, depend on the virtue and vice of the people of Jambudvipa, so the gods frequently roam this continent. Also, this is called Twin, because two sons of gods are born in pairs on the two shoulders of the gods. Because the joy and happiness of the Mahayana Dharma are flawless, and one can become a bodhisattva in one lifetime, it is called Tushita. Because one has power over manifesting desired objects, it is called Nirmanarati. Because one enjoys what others have manifested in common, it is called Paranirmitavasavartin. Sinful non-virtue is Brahma, and because it belongs to his retinue, it is called Brahmakayika. Like Brahmins reciting the Vedas in front of Great Brahma, they abide, so it is called Brahmapurohita. Because one meditates on special samadhi, one is born first and dies last, and because qualities and so on are great, it is called Mahabrahma. Relative to the higher places, the extent of light and clarity is small, so it is called Parittabha. Because the extent is vast, it is called Apramanabha. Because the extent and clarity are great, it is called Abhasvara. Combining the words of auspiciousness, happiness becomes virtue, and also from the meaning, "Kula" is derived as happiness, so the happiness of mind is small, it is called Parittasubha. Greater than that, it is called Apramanasubha. This is very manifest, so it is called Subhakrtsna. The lower base is without cloud-like overlapping, so it is called Anabhraka. Born from the merit of meditating on loving-kindness, it is called Punyaprasava. More excellent than other places of individual birth, it is called Brhatphala. It is the smallest quality of the noble ones, so it is called Avrha. Born from the samadhi of no regret, it is called Atapa. Qualities are not inferior, so it is called Sudrsa.
