Furthermore, twenty-three mental factors arise simultaneously. That refers to "regret" (Tibetan: ཀཱཽ་ཀྲི་ཏ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: kaukṛitya, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: kaukṛitya, literal Chinese meaning: bad action), meaning feeling remorse for doing what should not have been done, or not doing what should have been done. Here, with it as the object, the thought that arises in the mind is regret, which is named after a place. The Kashmiris believe that this kind of regret does not belong to the indeterminate, while the Sunlight School and others believe that it belongs to the indeterminate. In an unwholesome mind, there are two situations: non-associated formations that are similar to attachment, etc., the first group, the third group, the fourth group, and seeking and examining, these twenty mental factors arise simultaneously, because ignorance is the same as delusion, so it is not counted separately. The mind that is associated with attachment and other mental factors, and the mind that is associated with the two, wrong view and holding to views, also has twenty arising, which are those mental factors. View belongs to wisdom, so it is not listed separately. The remaining four root afflictions, as well as the ten secondary afflictions such as anger, and the unwholesome mind that is associated with regret, together with the previous twenty mental factors, plus their respective secondary afflictions, a total of twenty-one arise simultaneously. In the two defiled minds with limits, the first group, the third group, and the two seeking and examining have a total of eighteen arising. In the undefiled indeterminate mind, apart from the defiled indeterminate, the first group and seeking and examining have a total of twelve arising. The Sunlight School believes that the mind associated with indeterminate regret has thirteen arising. The two mental factors refer to the time of dreaming, because there are three situations of wholesome, unwholesome, and indeterminate, so it is not contradictory to all five consciousnesses. Whatever mind exists, add it to that mind, such as twenty-two mental factors, then add three, and so on. Second, explaining the mental factors corresponding to the desire realm, because there is no unpleasantness, there is no regret; because the faults of samadhi are eliminated, there is no sleep; because the continuum is moistened by calm abiding, even if afflictions arise, they will not produce the suffering of the ripening result, nor will they cause evil deeds of body and speech, so there are no unwholesome mental factors, such as flattery, deceit, conceit, etc., and abandoning the seven such as anger, and there is no anger, no shame, no embarrassment, these are not present in the first dhyana, so the defiled mind and the undefiled mind are combined into one, and adjusted according to the previous content. On top of these, seeking is also not present in special dhyana, others are the same as this. From the second dhyana to the peak of existence, there are no these and examining. Moreover, the word "also" indicates that there is no flattery or deceit either.

It is to show that there is no difference between the teacher and the retinue. Therefore, there are eight kinds of retinues: In the human realm, depending on power, lineage, wealth, and practice, there are four categories of retinues: royal lineage, Brahmins, householders, and renunciates. In the heavenly realm, depending on power, there are the four great kings, the thirty-three gods, and Mara. Depending on purity, there are the retinues of Brahma and others. Therefore, in order to show that it is mainly good in the desire realm and the first dhyana, there is deception. The third (part) has four points: the difference between shamelessness and lack of shame; the difference between joy and respect; the difference between gross discrimination and detailed discernment; the difference between pride and arrogance. The first point is: Do the words "shamelessness" and "lack of shame" that appear mean the same thing? No, they are different. Not respecting the qualities of one's own nature and those who possess qualities is shamelessness. Lack of shame is not fearing unwholesome deeds, that is, having no regard or restraint. The opposite of these is having shame and having a sense of shame. Both the Sutra school and the Consciousness-only school believe that it is in relation to oneself or the Dharma, and others or the world, that one does not fear wrongdoing. The opposite of this is having shame and having a sense of shame. The second point is: Do the words "joy" and "respect" that appear mean the same thing? No, they are different. Joy that is not afflicted is faith, and that which is afflicted is craving. Joy has two objects of focus, namely the Dharma and the person, and here we take the person as the object of focus. Respect itself is always having shame in all situations, and here we take the person who possesses qualities as the object of focus. The teacher said that faith is trust in qualities, and respect is accompanied by reverence, and it is joy that precedes this and fear of wrongdoing. Faith and having shame are generally included in the three realms, and joy and respect, because here we take the person as the object of focus, are therefore present in the desire realm and the form realm, because in the formless realm, people do not become objects for each other. The third point is: Are gross discrimination and detailed discernment the same thing? No, they are different. Gross discrimination and detailed discernment are, in order, coarse mind and subtle mind. The fourth point is: Are pride and arrogance the same thing? No, they are different. Pride is thinking that one is more intelligent than others, etc., it is inner arrogance, that is, a conceited and superior state; arrogance is towards one's own Dharma.
