The source of power arising from karma is prolonged by gathering and restraining. When abandoning it, it creates a source contrary to life. Therefore, it is because the attraction of karma is exhausted, and it is drawn by the power of Samadhi. Although it is not a Vipaka (karmic result), the so-called "life Vipaka" refers to most situations. The third part has six points: The basis is that the intelligent one is the basis for males and females of the three realms. The individual is an Arhat who has attained the highest Samadhi and is liberated from both timely and untimely circumstances. The method is that the way of abiding is as before, and the way of abandoning is to enter Samadhi, offer possessions, and then pray that the Vipaka of my life may become enjoyment, proceeding sequentially from mind, body, and speech. The necessity is to prolong life for the benefit of others or to protect and maintain the Dharma. No other function is seen other than this, so life is prolonged to live, but these two purposes are not seen, and because of weariness with Samsara, it is abandoned. The difference between life and lifespan is that the Sutra says, "Bless the activities of life, and abandon the activities of lifespan." So, what is the difference between these two? The Vaibhashika says: There is no difference, because in designation, what is life? It is said to be the lifespan of the three realms. The Sautrantika says: The fruits of past and present karma are called lifespan and life, and the so-called "activity" refers only to the continuous existence of impermanent and non-substantial aggregates. The word "all" is a plural term, for the sake of accomplishing the meaning of a moment and because there is no weariness. The necessity of specifically showing the abandonment and abiding of lifespan is to show mastery over lifespan, that is, by practicing the four miraculous legs, if one wishes, one can remain for a Kalpa or more. For the sake of accomplishing this vow, and for the sake of taming the wandering Rabzang, bless for three months, and thereafter abandon for the benefit of the trainees. This is the view of the teacher. The Vaibhashika says: It is to show victory over the four Maras, that is, under the Bodhi tree, the first period is the son of the gods, the second period is observing the world with the divine eye, the third period is afflictions, and in Vaishali, the activities of life are blessed, therefore it is the Lord of Death, near the village of the giants in Kushinagar.

It is said that by abandoning the activities of life, one overcomes the Mara of the aggregates. In the Sutra of Increasing Wisdom, it says that the Mara of karma and the five elements arise. The twelve sources are the result of maturation, being both existent and non-existent. The seven forms have two types of maturation: born and grown. The mind and the four feelings have two types: unspecified maturation and others. The last eight are definitely virtuous, and unpleasantness is definitely either virtuous or non-virtuous, so it is only not a result of maturation. If the sutra says that there are three types of karma, it contradicts the statement that unpleasantness is experienced. However, the experience associated with the five experiences is not considered a result of maturation, because it arises and subsides only from the mental discrimination of desire and aversion. Thirdly, that unpleasantness alone is definitely either defiled virtue or non-virtue, so it is only with the fruit of maturation. The ten sources are of two types: with and without maturation. The non-virtue and defiled virtue of the mind and the other four feelings are with maturation and are unspecified, while the undefiled is without maturation, and faith and so on are distinctions of defiled and undefiled. The remaining seven forms and life are only unspecified. The last three are undefiled, so they cannot be the cause of maturation, and therefore it is established that there is no maturation. Fourthly, the last eight are definitely virtuous, and unpleasantness is produced by discrimination, so it is definitely both virtuous and non-virtuous, which is the view of the Kashmiris. The Sun-under-the-Earth school believes that there is also unspecified. The mind and other feelings have three types, such as virtue, while the other seven forms and life are of one type, only unspecified. Fifthly, the nineteen types, except for the three stainless ones, belong to the increase of desire. Above the three stainless ones, there is no attachment to sexual desire or making the basis unpleasant, and there are no male or female organs. The sutra says that the faithful practitioner of pure conduct has no place, and the male has a place, which is only that the male has other characteristics. The body is as clear as light, which is the result of temporary causes, such as rubbing, and abandoning non-virtue.
