Because earth and so on are not like that. The female organ is the master of the characteristics of femaleness, and the male organ also masters the same characteristics, so it is a root. Moreover, unlike the views of non-Buddhists, it is not separate from the body, but in various parts of the body, namely in the direction of the genitals, the female and male organs are established, in order to generate consciousness based on what is touched, like a hand. This is the view of the Sutra School, while the Vaibhashikas say it is for holding what is touched. In order to abide in the same category, to completely afflict as before and to suppress the beginning of afflictions, to guide the path, and for complete purification, it is believed that the life force and the five feelings, as well as the five faculties of faith and so on, are in order. Obtaining Nirvana from above and above, etc., is because of mastering etc. Thus modified: Because mastering the attainment of all knowledge above, it becomes the author of all knowledge; because mastering the attainment of the possessor of all knowledge above, it becomes all knowledge; because mastering the attainment of Nirvana without remainder, the root of the possessor of all knowledge is established, the two roots are homogeneous causes, and the last is the fruit of the Purusha. Etc., because abandoning what is to be abandoned by seeing and what is to be abandoned by meditation, and abiding happily in the present Dharma, that is, the liberation of abandoning afflictions and experiencing mental happiness, in order to master them, these three are established, the first two are the fruits of separation, and the last is the author of autonomy or Purusha. Thus, the Vaibhashikas gave a general explanation of the last eight, while the Sutra School said that just as separate explanations are given for faith and so on, it also shows that the three uncontaminated ones also exist. If it is a root because it particularly masters, then it is said to be few, that is, the root of the mouth, etc., which is considered by the Samkhya school, also masters speaking, etc., and ignorance, etc., which is recognized by oneself, also masters actions, etc., so is it necessary to supplement? The answer is: The second is divided into two, namely the view of the Vaibhashikas and the view of the Sutra School. The first is, the total and the specific depend on the basis, that is, the six bases of mind, eye and so on, and the male and female organs that distinguish men and women as the basis for acceptance and rejection, and the life force that abides until the sentient being dies, these nine are the common basis of both the total and the specific. Sentient beings are completely defiled by afflictions.

Furthermore, the five feelings and the five such as faith are used to accumulate merit, and the three uncontaminated ones are used to actually purify, thereby attaining the two, the remainder and non-remainder of nirvana. Therefore, considering how many things are to be controlled, the faculties are also necessarily those twenty-two. The second is, or it can be considered from the perspective of entering and returning from samsara. Those who have never entered samsara before enter because of accumulating the karma of ignorance, so the main thing of samsara is the previous existence, so the basis for entering there is the six faculties such as the eyes of the intermediate state, and the two faculties of male and female that produce the six sense bases, and the life that makes life last, and the five feelings that enjoy the objects, which are two sufferings in the lower realms and two happinesses in the higher realms, and equanimity is present in both. So there are fourteen faculties for entering. Just as there are fourteen faculties on the side of entering, similarly, on the side of returning from samsara, the eight pure faculties other than the faculties of complete defilement are established. That is, the basis of nirvana is the five such as faith that combine the accumulation of merit. First, the one that dominates the birth of the uncontaminated is the one that knows the unknown. The one that remains constant in order to abandon the objects to be abandoned of the nine grounds is the known. The one who enjoys the joy and happiness of liberation is the one who knows what has been done. So there are eight faculties. The order is also established by the force of entering and returning from samsara. Third, the six such as the eyes are, "These are the basis of their respective consciousnesses." and "Each consciousness is a distinct awareness." as has been said. The two, male and female, are described as "the male faculty on the body" and so on. Life and faith, etc., are "life is life and warmth." and "Intelligence, memory, samadhi in all minds." and "faith and diligence" will be explained. Here, the five feelings and the three uncontaminated ones are shown, so there are two: the nature of the five feelings and the nature of the three undefiled ones. First, the feeling of the body is not calm, but experiencing suffering, which is the faculty of suffering. The word body refers to the body faculty, the basis body, the five physical faculties, and all physical phenomena, but here it refers to the third, so it can cut off unhappiness, feeling can cut off other mental factors, and non-attention can cut off bodily pleasure and equanimity.
