Afterwards, knowing in this way is called the knowledge of equipoise. The distinction lies in the fact that the mind only grasps the self-characteristic of an object and does not grasp the objective aspect and the general characteristic. If it were to grasp the object, it would also become sense consciousness and self-awareness. The aspect does not grasp the specific differences of objects, but rather understands the way knowledge grasps. For example, the commentary states, "It knows that this mind is attached." The path of seeing does not grasp the momentary or quickly arising, so it is blocked and sought in the aspect of entering, thus blocking the knowledge of cessation and non-arising. The path of no obstruction is the path of abandonment, and mind consciousness is the path of liberation and distinction, so it is blocked and has the aspect of the path, thus it is included only by the absence of aspiration. The remaining knowledge, the knowledge of cessation and non-arising, has fourteen aspects other than emptiness and selflessness. Although those two are focused on the meaning or have its reason, in later times, relying on convention, one says, "My birth is exhausted," and so on, whatever establishes the term 'I' is in accordance with both equipoise and subsequent attainment. Secondly, the nature of the sixteen aspects is grasping and being grasped, along with their co-existence. First, do undefiled states have the aspect of self-characteristics or not? The Kashmiris say: Immaculate does not have aspects other than the sixteen, because it only focuses on the true object. Others, the Heliocentrists, say: It has the aspect of its own characteristics. What is reasonable is, in the collection of the Treatise on Consciousness-Only, can the undefiled mind, which is not associated with the three realms, know the Dharma that is associated with desire? Yes, through the way of being produced by reasoning, from impermanence to conditions, and "This is the place, this is the basis," thus determining the nature of the place and the cause of the basis. Are these sixteen aspects names or entities? Some say that the four aspects of suffering are explained as entities, and the other three are names, so there are seven as entities, and from the perspective of names, there are sixteen. The Vaibhashikas consider the sixteen aspects as entities, like this, because it depends on conditions, it is impermanent, and so on, from leading others out, it is definitely leading out. Or, sequentially, as the antidotes to the sixteen, such as permanence. Second, the nature of the aspects is wisdom. The Sutra School says: In that case, wisdom itself

It should not be complete. If it is self-nature, then it cannot be established as other, this is the way of grasping knowledge. If it is only held by wisdom? No. It is the same as it, and the same as the object, everything is held. Wherever it is, the five bases of knowledge are all objects, so wisdom is the object, the subject, and the aspect, all three are with objects, the other two, the two with objects, and the one without objects. Second, there are five differences in wisdom: the difference of nature, the difference of ground, the difference of support, the difference of mindfulness, and the difference of object. The first is: First, conventional wisdom is the three types of goodness, etc., and the other nine are only good. The contaminated mind consciousness is also born of meditation, and the others are the truth of the path. Second, the first is contaminated, so it exists in all nine grounds. In the six grounds of meditation, there is something called Dharma-knowledge, because it is related to the desire of those six grounds. In the nine uncontaminated grounds, there is something called subsequent-knowledge, because subsequent-knowledge is related to the upper ground. The six belonging to it, the knowledge of the four truths and the knowledge of exhaustion and non-arising, are also present in the nine grounds. Those belonging to Dharma-knowledge are in the six grounds. Other mind-knowledge only exists in the four meditations, because it is difficult to generate, and its application depends on form and is related to form. Third, mind-consciousness is the support of the desire realm and the form realm, and what is called Dharma-knowledge is only the support of the desire realm, because it is committed to refuting the desire realm. The formless does not relate to the desire realm, and form also transcends the desire realm, so it does not refute. Those who rely on the desire realm, even if they are liberated from this, will refute all the remaining aggregates. The other eight besides these two are the support of the three realms. Fourth, then, which of the four mindfulness establishments are these ten wisdoms? The wisdom of cessation is only the establishment of Dharma mindfulness, because there is no object such as the body. Wisdom, knowledge, and intelligence are different names, this is the established tenet. Other-mind-knowledge is not the latter three, because it holds the object of feeling, etc. The remaining eight of the two are four, because they are the object of the four such as the body. Fifth, how much wisdom
