And there are only these two, subsequent knowledge. Thus, the previous two knowledges are three: conventional knowledge, dharma knowledge, and subsequent knowledge. Among these, the object of conventional knowledge is all conditioned and unconditioned dharmas, as appropriate. The sphere of activity of what is called dharma knowledge is suffering practiced in the desire realm, as well as the origin, cessation, and path, etc. The sphere of activity of subsequent knowledge is the four noble truths of the higher realms, such as suffering. Secondly, these two, dharma knowledge and subsequent knowledge, have four types each due to the difference in the object, the truth. That is, there are four dharma knowledges that know the four truths of the desire realm, and four subsequent knowledges that know the four truths of the higher realms. Thirdly, from dharma knowledge and subsequent knowledge, the four that are not of the nature of seeing, only when clinging to having done what is to be done, are also divided into the knowledge of non-arising and the knowledge of exhaustion. These two, the knowledge of exhaustion and non-arising, arise first as subsequent knowledge. For example, during the practice, one focuses on the suffering and origin to be abandoned by meditation in the peak of existence. Immediately after attaining the result, one also focuses on this and then expands to everything again. For example, if an elephant is struck by a poisoned arrow, the poison spreads throughout its body, and immediately after death, the wound swells, and after a while, it spreads throughout the body. Therefore, the vajra-like samadhi and those two, when focusing on suffering and origin, the object is one, and when focusing on cessation and path, it is not one. Fourth, it is divided into the first and the difference. The essence is: the mind of others, that is, knowledge is established from the parts of the four knowledges, that is, from conventional, path, dharma, and subsequent knowledge. Therefore, the opposite of conventional knowledge is one knowledge, and the substance is the two, mind and knowledge. Seven dharma knowledges and three or four truths, five paths, exhaustion and non-arising six, one mind knowledge and four parts. Secondly, it is divided into what is not known by what, and what is known by what. First, this mind knowledge does not know the mind of the higher realms that exceeds the self-ground of the four dhyanas because it is not a superior object of an inferior realm, and the root seen by faith and attainment that transcends the senses, and does not know the non-temporal combination by the temporal combination. The root of the lower person exceeds the one, it is not prohibited in the commentary, so it appears to be known, thus this meaning is spoken. A student with attachment to the mind

Because of not understanding, the four types of individuals—non-returners, Arhats, Pratyekabuddhas, and Buddhas—do not understand the earlier and earlier past. When Shravakas say they understand the Buddha and generate faith, it is not mind-consciousness because it obstructs the path of seeing. When Shravakas are said in the sutras to understand the Buddha's wisdom, it is understanding through other causes. Destruction, that is, not understanding the past and the unborn future mind, because the mind of others in the present is the object. Mind-consciousness that is in accordance with the aspects of Dharma-knowledge and subsequent-knowledge does not mutually understand its own similar wisdom, because it is the antidote to the desire realm and the higher realms, with truth as its object. It is like eye-consciousness understanding sound. Secondly, the mind-consciousness of Shravakas can cognize the two moments of another's path of seeing, but it does not understand the third and so on, which have different objects and aspects, because it needs to be accomplished by other efforts. Moreover, the path of seeing is very rapid, and because there is no time, the effort is not complete. Furthermore, it is also possible to understand others through the power of suffering-dharma-patience-dharma-knowledge or effort. The mind-consciousness like a rhinoceros horn can possibly understand the first two and the eighth, that is, three. Because the senses are very sharp, that is, the effort is small, the effort is completed up to the seventh. And because it is very exhausting, the third effort is not completed between the fourteenth. Similarly, it is also possible to understand the other three. Some say that they understand the first two and the fifteenth. Buddhas, however, do not need effort and know all fifteen moments, because it depends only on intention. It is manifest that they know how many dharmas and subsequent-knowledges of other paths there are. Secondly, the difference between the knowledge of exhaustion and non-arising is that, according to the Kashmiris, there is no difference in the equipoise of these two, but there is a difference in the subsequent attainment. The knowledge of exhaustion refers to the wisdom that arises from abandoning the origin, realizing the cessation, and cultivating the path, regarding the four truths: "I have completely understood suffering." And so on, as well as seeing, clarity, intelligence, realization, wisdom, light, and whatever realization is, this is the knowledge of exhaustion. Truly, suffering has been completely understood, and there is nothing more to understand, etc., the origin has been abandoned, and there is nothing more to abandon. Cessation has been realized, and it has been realized.
