Without any manifest activity, completely liberated from sorrow. The third is divided into two: essence and divisions. The first is: upward transference refers to the three cases where one does not directly liberate from sorrow in the place where one is later born, but transfers upward and attains liberation there. The second is divided into going to Akanistha and going to the Peak of Existence. The first is: the upward transference of approaching the form realm is the Akanistha-goer, who mostly practices higher seeing, and the Peak of Existence-goer, who mostly practices calm abiding. The first is: if one cultivates alternating meditation as the cause, then the special result is to go to the end of Akanistha. There are three divisions of this: having cultivated alternating meditation on a human basis, one declines from the three higher states, and later is born in the Brahma host, and due to the influence of previous habits on that basis, cultivates fifteen alternating meditations, abandons the intermediate places, and is born in Akanistha and liberates as a leaper; from the Brahma host, one is born in any of the first three Pure Abodes, and then finally is born in Akanistha and liberates as a half-leaper; having been born once in each of the sixteen abodes except for the Great Brahma, one finally attains nirvana in Akanistha as one who dies and transfers in all places. Although it is said that one is not born in the Great Brahma because it is a place of wrong views and is exhausted in one lord, there is no essence to the proof because arhats appear in the retinue of a king of ordinary beings. Gyaltsab Rinpoche said: Starting from the Brahma host, one is born once in each of all other places without interruption. Therefore, it is evident that one is also born there. Now, if one cultivates alternating meditation for desire, then one will not be a non-returner, because it is generally said that one will decline from alternating meditation. This is completely because one does not understand that each of the intermediate liberators and the born liberators has seventeen places of birth. The second is: other upward transferences that have not cultivated alternating meditation do not go to the Pure Abodes, but go to the end of the Peak of Existence. This later also goes to the formless realm, but previously goes to the form realm, so it is said that way. Here, the commentary says that this is grasping the end of both (Akanistha and the Peak of Existence), and it is said that there is an upward transference that liberates without going there, which is generally dealt with according to the uncertain circumstances as previously stated. The second other than approaching the form realm is desire

Then one goes only to the formless realm. This is because one has attained the samadhi of the formless realm and has not declined from it, and will definitely be born into any of the four formless realms. If we classify it, there are four types: dying immediately after birth, with manifest activity, dying without manifest activity, and upward transference. The second is: the non-returner, other than two types, attains nirvana in this very life, which is the peace of the present dharma. The third is: entering the form realm can be divided into nine types, and summarized into seven types of noble beings entering. According to what are these classifications made? It is according to the way of cultivating meditation. The first is: intermediate passing, birth passing, and active passing, each of which is divided into three types, so it is said that there are nine types of entering the form realm. If we classify intermediate passing, there are rapid intermediate passing, non-rapid intermediate passing, and long-lasting intermediate passing. For example, in order, they are: a morning spark that disappears as soon as it appears, an iron spark that disappears as it rises into the sky, and one that disappears before falling to the ground. The differences between these nine are due to the karma of experiencing the results after manifest realization, after birth, and in other instances, as well as the order of sharp, medium, and dull faculties, and the differences in the order of easily and difficultly abandoning afflictions. The second is: the upward transference of these nine types is not distinguished, but combined into one, and it is said that there are seven types of noble beings entering. The reason for not distinguishing is said in the Ṭīkā (commentary) to depend on the thoughts of the beings to be tamed. Some say it is to avoid the doubt of not including those who go to the formless realm, which is a good explanation. Why are other learners not noble beings entering? The meaning of noble is that the action is noble, only doing good deeds and not doing bad deeds. The meaning of entering is that one has reached the top and will not return to the bottom. Other learners may do some subtle bad deeds, such as non-celibacy, so they are not noble, and they have not reached the top, so they are not entering. Moreover, in order to attain liberation in this life, one will not go to non-return and arhat, and there will be no return of beings from the upper realms. So, what does the sutra say is a noble person? It is a learner who possesses eight branches. What is the noblest among the noble? It is a noble person who possesses ten non-learning dharmas. This saying contradicts
