The gate of clinging to superior views is clinging to later superiority, and the gate of wrong views is doubt, so it is shown that the first view is abandoned, and thus it is understood that the second view is abandoned. Showing the abandonment of the fourth gate, that is, the fifth, thus understanding the abandonment of the fourth. The gate of wrong views is doubt, so it is summarized as abandoning the three roots, because it shows the abandonment of the three with roots, so it is established that the three roots are abandoned, so only the three are briefly mentioned. The master said that the Stream-enterer destroys all the obstacles to entering the city of liberation, and that is three, namely, the view of the perishable aggregate, fearing liberation and unwilling to go, the five views clinging to the non-path, thus losing the way, and if there is doubt about the path, the correct path will also be abandoned, because these three constitute the main obstacles to entering liberation, therefore it is shown that the Stream-enterer abandons these three. Second, corresponding to the upper part: Again, the sutra says that the five fetters corresponding to the upper part are mentioned. How is it? The two kinds of desire arising from the form realm and the formless realm are explained separately, because this is the main thing to be abandoned or the cause of near attainment. Agitation, pride, and ignorance. Explaining these three separately is because it is the same as not completely abandoning the upper part, which is what the ancient teachers said. The second is: Relying on the fact that the support is determined to be three kinds, that is, the bondage of the three times. The third is: Those mental factors that have afflictions other than the root afflictions, that is, those that are included in the aggregate of formations, are also near afflictions, because they are the nature close to afflictions, or because they are close. These are only near afflictions, not afflictions. In "Sa", the mind is defiled by near afflictions, so it is said. If we distinguish, from here there are sixteen kinds shown, as well as disbelief, carelessness, laziness, and the twenty-four kinds of unpleasantness from small things to disputes, and in the Jewel Garland, "From these small faults", a total of fifty-seven kinds are proclaimed. Fourth, the real meaning, incidentally speaking of defilements, and their differences. First, the general classification, and the establishment of them as near afflictions. The first is: The root afflictions mentioned in the sutras are also considered general, while in the treatises, eight kinds arise from the perspective of near afflictions, and the number is determined because of the three trainings.

Through the door of disharmony with attachments, arise shamelessness and recklessness regarding discipline, as well as jealousy and stinginess towards the benefit of others, and the excitement and regret of wisdom, and the dullness and sleep of the mind. These, like a worm entangled in saliva, occur repeatedly, binding and enslaving the mind, therefore they are the eight pervasive entanglements. The Vaibhashikas, considering the abiding of sound and meaning, add anger and concealment, considering them to be ten. The second is, illustrating the meaning of accomplishing a similar cause with an example, or by showing the closeness to the root afflictions, or through gain and respect, etc., with desire preceding, arise shamelessness and excitement and stinginess. There is debate regarding concealment, some think it is not possible without gain and respect, some think it is the ignorance of not recognizing the ownership of actions, and some think it is both knowing and not knowing. The fruit of wrongdoing is dullness, sleep, and shamelessness arising from ignorance. Doubting the result of actions gives rise to regret, non-virtue, and anger. Jealousy is the arising of suffering towards an object, arising from the cause of hatred. Second, the classification of defilements, and their establishment as near afflictions. The first is, from the ten afflictions, the near afflictions are like defilements from the body, arising from afflictions, therefore they are defilements, namely the six, such as illusion. The second is, illusion and pride arise from desire and attachment arising towards one's own dharma, resentment and harm arise from hatred arising from suffering towards an object. Irritation arises from the extreme attachment to sin preceding, arising from the supreme attachment to views. Deceit is universally provoked by the wrong view of slandering the result of actions, being cunning without confessing sins. The difference between harm and malice is, in the treatise it is said, the great harm of creating killing, binding, destroying, or impoverishing, and the small harm of creating beating, frightening, and threatening, etc., is harm. Third, the difference between what is abandoned by seeing and what is abandoned by meditation, the difference between non-virtue and what is unspecified, the difference between realms and grounds. First, among these ten pervasive entanglements, shamelessness, recklessness, dullness, sleep, and excitement are the two types of abandonment, other than that
