So, what is the Brahma merit in "increasing Brahma merit"? The Vaibhashikas consider it to be the same as the Vipaka karma. Ancient teachers, however, consider it to be building stupas of the Buddha's body in places where it has not been done before, offering Sangharama to the Sangha of the four directions and building temples there, reconciling hundreds of thousands of Shravakas of the Buddha, and practicing loving-kindness. The first two are explained as aspects of generosity, and the latter two are explained as aspects of meditation. These four are similar to the merit of Brahma-purohita, because the first three are merely desires, but in the forty intermediate kalpas, they will continue their lives and be born in the heavens of desire, and therefore abide in bliss. The sutra says that the heavens are the gods of desire. The third is Dharma-dana. The sutra says: The impurities arising from the two kinds of giving have already been explained. Dharma-dana refers to teaching the twelve divisions of scripture, such as the Sutra Pitaka, in accordance with the Dharma, with a non-afflicted intention. If one teaches for the sake of gain and honor, one will harm one's own merit. The third is the three kinds of wholesome qualities that are conducive to liberation. Wholesome qualities conducive to merit refer to Vipaka being pleasing. Wholesome qualities conducive to liberation refer to attaining Nirvana once born, and the sign of its existence is that one's hair stands on end when hearing about the faults and virtues of Samsara and Nirvana, and so on. Wholesome qualities conducive to ascertainment refer to the three contaminated wholesome qualities such as warmth, which will be explained below. The third is to conclude by teaching some categories of Dharma. Reason, that is, among the three ways of the three doors of action skillfully introduced by the method of learning, the intention of the body, including the mind and mental factors, is the worldly letters and symbols. The action of speech is counting one, two, and so on. Poetry is the combination of words and phrases. The action of the mind is the summation of numbers or the action of counting with the mind, that is, in order. Obscured by the obstacles to liberation, the evil that is dark and abandoned by the noble, the transgressions that are condemned by the holy, and so on, are the categories of afflicted Dharma. The immaculate wholesome root is abundant because it reaches the ultimate purity. The conditioned wholesome root is to be relied upon because it produces happiness and should be repeatedly practiced. Do not cling to the unwholesome and the unspecified.ྲས་བུ་ is not happy, and conditioned things should not be accustomed to, so they should not be relied upon. All other dharmas are superior, and liberation and nirvana are unsurpassed. The commentary on the Abhidharmakosha, the sun that clarifies the meaning of the teachings, the fourth chapter is finished. Fifth, explaining the anusaya. The nature of the anusaya to be abandoned, the nature of the antidote to be abandoned, the fruit of abandonment, complete knowledge. First, briefly explain by way of connection, and determine the anusaya itself. First, if those karmas arise from where, do they only produce the world from there? Answer: Those karmas are accumulated by the power of anusaya, and have no effect on seeing the truth. Without karma and anusaya, manifest existence cannot be achieved. Arhats have karma, but because they have no desire, they have no rebirth. Therefore, the root of existence is anusaya. Karma is the individually determined proximate cause, and affliction is the common cause, the co-operative condition. Therefore, in some respects, both are primary, but without affliction, samsara itself will not be achieved, and it is permanent. As it is said in the Extensive Sutra: "The chariot of rebirth is ridden by children, with the wheel of affliction and karma. If the wheel of affliction is damaged, the wheel of karma cannot turn alone." It is also said in the scriptures: The entry of affliction has ten functions: stabilizing the root, maintaining continuity, acting as a field, producing the same kind, creating karma and existence, clinging to one's own group, being deluded about the object, guiding the stream of consciousness, turning away from virtue, not transcending the realm, and being pervaded by bondage. The fifth and eighth functions indicate the root of the two existences. These ten functions are explained here. Second, explain the classification of anusaya, the way of arising of anusaya, the types, etc. First, the classification of the essence, the classification of the aspects, the classification of the mind associated with anusaya. First, the actual classification, the determination of the two to be abandoned, a detailed explanation of view and pride. First, the classification of the six attachments formed from the root, divided into seven types. Divided into ten types by the classification of views. Divided into ninety-eight types by the number of realms. First, the root of existence is anusaya, if classified, there are six types. The definition is: attachment to the aggregates of proximate grasping, and likewise
