Should be abandoned. The upper school believes that the view-abandoned, which is abandoned by ordinary people, is not abandoned because it does not rely on the truth, and the cultivation-abandoned is only suppressed, not fundamentally abandoned. The Vaibhashika school believes that without abandoning the cultivation-abandoned, one cannot generate higher merits, just as one has not obtained the higher mind, the view-abandoned should be the same. Third, the cultivation-abandoned, which cannot be subdued by forbearance, is abandoned only by the path of cultivation because it is not a false view of the truth. Third, it is divided into the classification of views and the classification of pride. First, it is divided into the nature of the five views, the elimination of disputes over the two that are considered superior, and the explanation of the remaining inverted meanings. First, what is the nature of the previous five views? Relying on the five aggregates of clinging, considering consciousness as the self that acts, and the other four as the self-owned that is controlled, or considering name as self and form as self-owned. And relying on the very object of the self that is clung to, considering that it goes from the previous life to this life, and from this life to the next life, is permanent, and considering that it does not exist, is annihilation, and considering that the truth does not exist, is a false view, all five views are false, just like "rancid butter", because this false view is more serious. Considering all inferior contaminated dharmas such as views as superior, and considering Ishvara and other non-worldly causes as that cause, and considering morality and asceticism themselves as the path of non-liberation, this is because the word "etc." between the two superior clingings has been deleted. These are the nature of the five views. Second, if considering non-cause as cause is the superior clinging of asceticism, then will the fifth view of clinging to Ishvara and other non-causes as cause become the abandonment of the origin of suffering? Answer: It is the abandonment of the truth of suffering, because the clinging to them as cause with the inverted clinging of permanence and self will be stronger. If one sees the truth of suffering, if one does not know that they are impermanent and selfless, it will become temporary, and if one knows, the clinging to cause will also be eliminated. The fact that the first two views do not include the latter three truths is also established by this. Because the view of destruction is clinging to self, and the clinging to extremes is also caused by this. When the false views abandoned by the truth of suffering, such as the clinging to permanence, disappear, those have also disappeared. Third, is the saying "I am permanent and inverted" only these two? It is not, the view is three.

From "existence," four types of inversions are established. Holding onto one side of extreme views is the view of permanence. From views, considering something superior is pleasure and purity. From the view of the aggregates, clinging to a self is an inversion. However, clinging to "mine" does not appear in the sutras, so is it not an inversion? Some say that "I" refers to anything, and "mine" refers to something related, indicating the same meaning. The reason why only these three are established as inversions is that the object is completely inverted, and they possess the three causes of definitive conceptualization and imputation. Because discipline and asceticism can slightly eliminate them, the fifth view, other defiled views, and views of denial do not possess the three causes in sequence. Then, how should we explain the sutra that says the mind and consciousness are inverted? If you say that there is no definitive conceptualization in them, then even if one does not have it themselves, they are placed there because they possess something similar to that view. The reason why feelings and so on are not explained is that they are not well-known in the world, but the mind and consciousness are well-known. Alternatively, the mind is the main thing, and consciousness is what cuts off the object, so it is similar to a view, hence this explanation. Therefore, all thirty-two inversions are abandoned on the path of seeing. Other schools believe that pure and pleasant mind and consciousness also have what is abandoned on the path of meditation that is not similar to views, because some practitioners cling to women with desire as pure and sexual activity as pleasant. Second, there are divisions: the actual meaning of the divisions, what is to be abandoned, and the difference that even if not abandoned, it will not manifest. The first is: not only views, but pride is also divided into seven types, namely, pride, excessive pride, pride beyond pride, conceit, increased pride, false pride, and wrong pride. The difference between the fifth and seventh is whether there is a basis or not. Then, in the "Entering Wisdom," it says: "I am the same as others," "I think I am superior," "I think I am inferior," these three, and "I think there are those who are the same as me," "there are those who are inferior to me," "there are those who are superior to me," these three, and "I think there is no one superior to me," "there is no one the same as me," "there is no one inferior to me," these three, totaling nine. What does this mean? The nine types of pride mentioned are sequentially included in the three types of pride, excessive pride, and false pride mentioned here. The second is: the seventh type.
