What are the limbs of it? They are shown in the section on discernment. For example, it is shown by saying, "If one experiences the act of intercourse," and "If one takes a life," and "If one dies," and "If the word 'na' is added to what is understood," and so on. The third is the characteristic of exclusion: the opposite of a limb is exclusion. Among those exclusions, some become faultless from the act, some become middling sins, and some become the downfall of changing the basis. Fourth, there are six ways in which different downfalls are generated: different trainings, different intentions, different precepts, different motivations, different bases, and different actions generate different downfalls. These should be understood on the basis of their respective texts. Second, there are five meanings of a limb: the limb of the continuum, the limb of the object, the cause of generating different downfalls together with incidental factors, the characteristics of perception and intention, and the exclusion of limbs. The first has four: the limb of training together with incidental factors, the limb of intention together with exclusion, the limb of sections together with incidental factors, and the limb of name together with incidental factors. The first has two, the actual and the incidental. The actual is: above, when combining on the basis of the fivefold community of monks, it was said that all five should be generated completely. Does one think that any monk can generate them? If one combines defeat with downfall, it is said that one has committed a wrong deed. The word "defeat" is placed as the basis of explanation. What is defeated? From what is it defeated? By whom is it defeated? How is it defeated? The reason for establishing the defeater as insurmountable. If defeat is combined with downfall, what will it become? Is it negation or affirmation? Combining the meaning of the words with the sutras, there are eight. The first is: the basis for universally practicing defeat. The second is: from where it is possible to accomplish what is needed for vows. The third is: defeated by concealed defeat. Fourth, there are three systems: the Vaibhashika system, the Sautrantika system, and the early system. The first is: there are two kinds of defeat, concealed and unconcealed. If a concealed one occurs, it cannot be purified by confessing sins and downfalls, and even if one takes vows, it does not arise. Some say that if an unconcealed one occurs, it can be purified by confessing sins and downfalls, and even if one takes vows, it arises. If a common defeat occurs, then the arising of vows is not reasonable, because there is no knower and there is a cause of harm.

Ra. Because of the occurrence of defeat (pham pa, ,,,defeat), the vows are not abandoned, because it is said that accusing the eleven impure bases is a downfall. Secondly, according to the Sutra School, defeat is definitely only with concealment. If defeat occurs, sins and downfalls cannot be purified by confession. Even if vows are taken, they will not arise. Defeat causes the abandonment of vows, because the scriptures say that if one does that, one is not suitable to be a monk, not suitable to be a renunciate, and not suitable to be a son of the Shakya immediately after doing it. If defeat occurs, vows will not arise, because it is said that one is not allowed to take them later. If the intention to conceal is not necessary as a branch of defeat, then it follows that the meditator Gahjepa has experienced defeat, because he has committed the downfall of fulfilling all the other branches of defeat except for the intention to conceal. If you accept this, then it follows that it is not reasonable to say that he has the system of reversing downfalls. Thirdly, according to the early traditions, there are two types of defeat: with concealment and without concealment. If defeat with concealment occurs, sins and downfalls cannot be purified by confession, and even if vows are taken, they will not arise. Even if one lapses due to defeat without concealment, sins and downfalls can be purified by confession, and if vows are taken, they will arise. It is said that defeat causes the abandonment of vows. If defeat causes the abandonment of vows, then it contradicts the statement that the meditator Gahjepa attained Arhatship and remained in his former rank. If you say that, it is said that this was done for the sake of praise, not because he possessed vows. Here, the first point should be accepted, because the Tika says that even if a monk who has fallen into defeat has vows, they become unnecessary, because he does not have the opportunity to live and practice together with those who practice celibacy. If taking vows correctly is for the sake of liberation, then he has abandoned the attainment of liberation far away. Therefore, it is said that his vows are like non-existence. Fifthly, the reason for attributing defeat to the cause of defeat is that defeat defeats the antidote, hence it is called defeat. Sixthly, what happens if one commits a lapse? If that lapse is applied to the five groups, it becomes a misdeed. Seventhly, is it an affirmation or a negation? Is it a negation that it does not produce misdeeds, or is it an affirmation that it produces misdeeds? If you ask, since a monk who has committed defeat with concealment possesses vows, the actual basis of the five groups for him...
