Furthermore, the transgression of eating is as follows: Suppose a monk, for the benefit of a sick monk, the Sangha, or a stupa, has done sweeping work about the size of a hand towel, or has not traveled half a yojana, and has not spread a hard mat. Having been invited by two patrons on one day, if the latter patron has not received property worth an elbow's length of cloth, but has obtained timely food belonging to the category of five foods and five dishes, and without having a confused perception, but with the intention of wanting to eat a second meal, begins to eat in a non-famine time, and finally swallows it down his throat, he will fall. Secondly, the transgression of eating in a dwelling is as follows: Suppose a non-monk lives in a dwelling that is entirely occupied by heretics, and the heretical patron is not a relative and does not provide hospitality at will. Without having a confused perception, but with the intention of wanting to eat food that has been left overnight in the dwelling, he begins to eat a second meal, and finally swallows it down his throat, he will fall. Thirdly, the transgression of taking more than three bowlfuls of food is as follows: Suppose a monk receives timely food from a householder who is not wealthy and cannot give freely, that is, a medium-sized bowl that can hold one or three dou of food. Five and a half Magadha small sheng of dried, hulled rice are cooked, expanding to three dou, which can fill the bowl, and can be begged for together with vegetables. If he takes more than this amount, and without having a confused perception, but with the intention of wanting to beg at will and eat elsewhere, he begins to take it elsewhere to eat, and finally swallows it down his throat, he will fall. Some say: If you take one dou bowl, what are the large and small sizes? If you take three dou, then the small size is taking three dou, which is unreasonable. Even if you take one dou bowl, it refers to a medium-sized one dou; if you take three dou, you should also take a medium-sized three dou. As it is said in the Pratimoksha: If a monk wants, he may take a full bowl of one or three dou. Moreover, the Vinayavastu and the Vinayasamgraha say that the abbot takes the medium size as the standard. Fourthly, the transgression of eating at one sitting is as follows: Suppose a non-sick monk, timely food and dishes belonging to the category of food that can be eaten, and not soup, thinks that he will not eat today and abandons it.

Not making a remainder. Not being confused in consciousness and abandoning the intention, not making a remainder, with the thought of wanting to eat, the action is to start eating in a non-famine time, and finally swallowing it into the throat results in a downfall. Some say that abandoning either eating or preparing is complete abandonment, because it is only said to be food. This statement is unreasonable, because as a proof that any of eating or preparing is sufficient for the food to be abandoned, any of eating or preparing is sufficient for the food to be eaten, because this is irrelevant. Therefore, the food to be abandoned for complete abandonment must be eaten, because it is said to be other than touching things to be prepared. If one eats abandoned food, one must make a remainder. The way to do this is to take the food in hand after receiving it, and squat in front of the monk who has not given up the place of food, the place of making a remainder, and say: "Venerable, please listen. I, a monk named so-and-so, want or do not want, because I want to abandon it, and I want to get it from eating or preparing. If you want, please make a remainder and give it to me," and pray once like this. Then, that person takes the food in his hand, and if he has not abandoned the food, he eats two or three mouthfuls, and if he has abandoned it, he does not need to eat it. Then, he says, "Please enjoy the rest" or "Enjoy as you please," and then gives it to the eater, and it can be eaten. The fifth, the downfall of stealing after abandoning is: in a non-famine time, the basis is a monk, the food is lawful and sufficient, the consciousness is not confused and the intention is not to make a remainder for the abandoned food, with the thought of wanting to steal it, the action is to start stealing, saying "I have made a remainder," and finally the monk in the place eats it, then the stealer commits a downfall. The sixth, the downfall of gathering and eating is: the basis is a monk, not at the time of a large gathering, within a single boundary, separated from the general sangha, together with three or more monks, the food of lawful time is sufficient, the consciousness is not confused and the intention is to gather and eat, the action is to start eating together, and finally swallowing it into the throat results in a downfall. This downfall is also like the time of eating repeatedly, being sick and, doing things and, walking on the road.
