It is permissible to place it without separation. The perception is not confused, the motivation is voluntary, with the intention of separating for six nights. Without any obstacles, one should dwell elsewhere than one's own dwelling and the place where the robes are placed, together with their surroundings. Ultimately, after six nights have passed, when the dawn of the seventh day rises, it is abandoned. Some say that for the abandonment of a forest dweller, separation from the monastic robe is necessary as a branch, which is unreasonable. Because separation from any of the three robes will result in this abandonment. The Pratimoksha states, "If a monk wishes to be a forest dweller, then any of the three robes should be placed in a village for common use." And the Ṭīkā states, "Any one of the three robes." The eighth, the abandonment of searching for a large cloth mat and delaying its placement, is: Relying on a monk associated with the summer retreat. The object is a large cloth, suitable and qualified, capable of protecting from rain, and not old, having been used for four months. The time for searching is within one month before the acceptance of the summer retreat. The time for placing it is within half a month after the end of the retreat. The perception is not confused, the motivation is for oneself, wanting to search one month before accepting the summer retreat, or wanting to place the large cloth without permission even after half a month after the end of the retreat. The action is done in that way, and ultimately because of that reason, finding and obtaining it one month before, is the abandonment of searching for a mat. Holding it for more than half a month without permission after the end of the retreat is the abandonment of delaying its placement. Some say that for the abandonment of searching for a large cloth mat and taking possession of summer acquisitions, it is necessary to search in the land of laypeople as a branch, which is unreasonable. Because the abandonment of searching for a large cloth mat is to prohibit the accumulation of meaningless items. The abandonment of taking possession of summer acquisitions is to prohibit the breaking of the summer retreat. Whether it is obtained from the land of laypeople or renunciants, there is no difference between these two prohibitions. The ninth, the abandonment of dedicating and transforming is: Relying on the property of a monk, a layperson or renunciant dedicates a robe to an individual monk or the Sangha. The perception is not confused, the motivation is without the intention of stealing,

By transforming with the intention of separating and changing it to oneself, it becomes something to be discarded when finally obtained. Some people think that generating the abandonment of dedication requires the donor, who is not a relative layperson, as a condition, and the objects to be transformed are two: clothing and alms bowl. Saying that the action requires language with five characteristics is unreasonable, because even if a monastic transforms the dedicated object, it will still generate the abandonment offense, because the Vinaya-vastu states that there is no fault in the donor, whether monastic or layperson, having the same or different views as the recipient. The second point is also unreasonable, because transforming the alms bowl does not generate the abandonment of dedication, because the Vinaya states that there are two kinds of acquisitions: the acquisition of clothing and the acquisition of food. Here, it must be determined that it is the acquisition of clothing, and the commentary states that determining it as the acquisition of clothing excludes the acquisition of food. If someone says that transforming the alms bowl generates the abandonment of dedication because it excludes the acquisition of food, then transforming the acquisition of a dwelling would also generate the abandonment of dedication because it excludes the acquisition of food. The opponent accepts this inference. It is also unreasonable to require transformation with language that has five characteristics, because even transforming with the body generates the abandonment of dedication, because the commentary states that just as a non-relative is not needed as a condition, the language itself is similar here. Tenth, the abandonment of hoarding is: the monk who is the basis is not sick, for anything other than divine nectar and nasal instillation, but any of the four medicines that a monk can rely on, through giving and receiving, without confusion of consciousness, with the motivation of wanting to enjoy it later, the action is exceeding the time of hoarding, that is, the general time, the four medicines given and received can be enjoyed until noon, if after noon, holding it without dissolving the giving and receiving, then that monk commits the abandonment of hoarding. The individual times are, for example, jaggery-like seven-day medicine, blessed within seven days, if not blessed again or without dissolving the giving and receiving, exceeding seven days, reaching the eighth day.
