So. Secondly, there are three points: refuting the argument against the final action, refuting the argument against the initial action, and elucidating the view of the Arhat Dharmajoya. The first point is: If ten people commit the act of killing in one day, the first person stabs with a weapon that will cause the person to die in ten days, the second person stabs with a weapon that will cause the person to die in nine days, until the last person stabs with a weapon that will cause the person to die immediately, then will all ten commit a defeat? If they do, then it contradicts the appearance of death only occurring to the last one; if they do not, then it contradicts the Vibhajyavāda, which states: The first nine take the non-defeat aspect, while the tenth takes both the defeat aspect and the non-defeat aspect. If you say that this is contradictory, the answer is that there is no contradiction in the Ālokamālā, because the actions of the ten are consistent and the result is the same. Some say that the "consistent action" here refers to actions that have been discussed beforehand, such as those of lepers, which is unreasonable, because then the act of each of the ten stabbing with a weapon becomes irrelevant, because the sutra says "armies, etc., for one purpose." The teacher Jñāna says that it is the sum of abilities. Others say that each action does not necessarily lead to death, because if the later actions do not depend on the earlier actions, then the certainty of death does not exist. Our own view is that each of the ten people has an action that leads to certain death, so the actions are consistent and the result is that person's death. Because the actions of all lead to death, the statement of Dharmatrata is a good explanation. Committing the act of killing in the final moment of death does not lead to defeat, because the Ālokamālā says that the last breath is the moment of destruction, how can they be compared? The second point is: If someone stabs with a weapon on the first day that will cause the person to die on the tenth day, until the last person stabs with a weapon on the tenth day that will cause the person to die immediately, then will all of them commit a defeat? If they do, then it contradicts the statement that death only occurs to the first one; if they do not, then it contradicts the Vibhajyavāda. The answer is the same as before. The third point is: The venerable Dharmajoya says that even if only one moment of life remains, any act of killing

It will eventually become thin, while for others it will become thick, as stated in the Sutra of Light. Fourth, the defeat of lying to hinder others from achieving benefits is divided into two: the general meaning and the application to the text. First, the basis of the story is that in a vast land, five hundred monks who had renounced from the fisherman caste, driven by afflictions and the desire for fame, spoke of untrue human qualities, and therefore this basis of training was established. The reason is that the faults of visible phenomena and the results of maturation are the same as before. The experience corresponding to the cause is the increase in slander of similar beings, and the action is delighting in lying. The result of the lord is being born in a foul place. The factors of action are, in addition to the previous common branches, not possessing the superior human qualities oneself. The branch of the object is possessing five characteristics: a person different from oneself, capable of speech, understanding meaning, knowing, naturally existing, and not being a hermaphrodite or bisexual. The object is characterized by superior human qualities. In terms of intention, neither of the two is mistaken. The motivation is wanting to speak with the intention of changing perception. The application is speech possessing six characteristics: being one's own, being speech, being related to oneself, being the intended meaning, being clear, and being spoken manifestly. The ultimate is understanding the meaning due to that cause. Regarding this, the Great Elder said that the branch of the object does not need to possess five characteristics, because the five sections say that there is no reproach for either hermaphrodites or bisexuals. It is also necessary to investigate whether it is said that it is necessary to speak clearly. Second, applying to the meaning of the text: changing the perception, saying that oneself possesses superior human qualities. If one does what, will it become a defeat of lying? Changing the true perception, that is, hiding it, and saying with a false perception that the monk himself does not possess superior human qualities, but says that he does, it will become a defeat of lying. What are the superior human qualities? The five objects of desire are the qualities of humans, and from them, those that are superior, higher, or most excellent are called superior human qualities. Alternatively, the qualities of humans are the five obscurations, namely desire for desire and hatred, etc.
