Homage! If it is very necessary to protect against obstacles to merit, then allow singing for the purpose of offering to the Three Jewels, and allow the anointing of both feet with fragrance in order to protect against obstacles to the merit of the benefactor. Because (it is said in the sutras): For the purpose of offering to the Three Jewels, one should utter beautiful songs; those who desire merit should rely on anointing both feet with fragrant oil of the body. Fourth, because one cannot practice all of them, but only practices a part, there are three situations where there is no transgression: because one cannot practice due to lack of mental control, there is no transgression; because one cannot practice due to difficulty in doing so, there is no transgression; because transgressions are mutually inclusive, one cannot practice, therefore there is no transgression. The first situation is: for madness and the like, there is no transgression. The second situation is: when receiving ordination in a border region, if ten monks cannot be found, then ordination is granted by a group of five, like this situation. The third situation is: if the precepts are the same and need to be prohibited, but if they are the same, then not keeping one precept does not result in transgression. For example, if a Bhikshuni leaving during the day and walking alone on the road are mutually inclusive without other means, then there is no transgression in walking alone on the road, like this situation. Second, extending from that, is the explanation of the meaning of gross offenses, which is divided into two types: the classification of the mode of expression of sounds and the classification of definitions. The first is: generally, both Parajika and Sanghavasesa are called gross offenses. In the Mother Sutra, it says: What is the offense of a gross offense? The answer is: it is committing Parajika and Sanghavasesa. Why is it called the offense of a gross offense? The answer is: because there are two reasons, it is called the offense of a gross offense. Because it is a gross offense, it is a gross offense; because the offense of its nature is a gross offense, it is an offense of a gross offense, therefore it is called an offense of a gross offense. Here, it is to show the lesser gross offense. In the Light Sutra, if it is done that way, then the sound called a gross offense is shown in two ways: the sound that becomes a name and the sound of a quality. Among them, the sound that becomes a name is called a small offense. The sound of a quality is called a great offense. Regarding the difference between these two, some wise people think: the former is the basis is a Bhikshu, the category is only Parajika and Sanghavasesa, the situation is the preliminary and actual practice, and the basis of imputation is...

It is called by the name of superimposition of gross offense, which is the nature of gross offense. The latter refers to all five kinds of bases for ordination, all five categories of divisions, all temporary combinations, and one or more substrates, which are called by the name of the object on which they are based, that is, the imputer. Second, the classification of the nature of gross offense has four aspects: the classification itself, the summary, the essence, and the meaning of the term. First, classifying based on the nature of gross offense, there are four types: gross offenses belonging to defeat offenses, which are heavy and light, and gross offenses belonging to sanghavasesa offenses, which are also heavy and light. There are also eight types due to the differences of very heavy, etc., as stated in the Vinaya Summary: "Heavy and very heavy, light and very light, with the defeat offense, gross offenses are of four kinds. Not declared as heavy, others strive for it, even if prevented, they do not listen, know it as extremely heavy. Having shame towards others is light, oneself being very light due to shame, it changes due to the difference in intention. Similarly, the sanghavasesa offense, with intention, gross offenses are of four kinds." Second, it is summarized into two types of gross offenses: those caused by defeat offenses and those caused by sanghavasesa offenses. Third, the action that arises from the complete assembly of causes and conditions of gross offense is the category that should be punished by superimposing the name of gross offense. Fourth, it is lighter than the essence of defeat offenses and sanghavasesa offenses, and the fault is greater than other downfall offenses, therefore it is called minor gross offense. Second, non-downfall has already been explained in the process of elimination. Third, the training is for the purpose of preventing the occurrence of the classification of downfall offenses, therefore it is the training, the second will be explained in their respective chapters. Second, the individual meanings are fivefold: the section of defeat offenses that cuts off; the section of sanghavasesa offenses that depends on the sangha for restoration; the section of downfall offenses that leads to downfall; the section of confession offenses that are confessed individually through reciting the confession text; and the section of training. The summary of the first section is: "Improper conduct and stealing, one should not kill a person, lying and what is associated with it, these four dharmas are spoken of here." The meaning of what is said is fourfold: it harms both oneself and others.
