Etc., except for some, all others are permitted. The permission is granted to eliminate obstacles to one's own discipline. Since upholding discipline is for the sake of generating the higher path, protecting against obstacles to generating one's own higher path is more important than upholding discipline. Therefore, it is also for this reason that monks are allowed to separate from their robes for six days compared to the monastery. Secondly, there are three instances where there is no transgression due to the presence of causes that are the main obstacles for others: obstacles to the life of others, obstacles to the discipline of others, and obstacles to the practice of others. First, if a monk upholds the precepts, he cannot eliminate the obstacle to the life of another. If he does not uphold them, he can eliminate it. Then, except for drinking alcohol, etc., all other precepts are permitted, because it is permitted to save a woman being carried away by water. Because it is to liberate from suffering with compassion, it is said that there is no transgression. It is also established by reason, because protecting against obstacles to the life of others is more important than upholding the precepts. Someone might say that saving a woman being carried away by water is not permitted, because not releasing her from the hands of thieves in order to eliminate the obstacle to the life of another creates a misdeed, because it is a misdeed with a compassionate heart. Furthermore, it is because it is said that ordaining a woman who is certain to be killed increases the remainder, because it is said to be the remainder of ordination. If you say that, there is no fault, because the statement that it is a misdeed with a compassionate heart means that the misdeed is created by the power of a thieving mind, and the misdeed of a thieving mind is a natural transgression. Ordaining a woman with three faults increases the remainder because it cannot save life and leaves a wound on the teachings, so it is established as a remainder. It cannot save life, because it is said that later it was necessary to ask the Bhikshuni Utpalavarna for help in saving her life. Secondly, if a monk upholds some precepts, it will cause the continuum of others to be stained by sin, and if he does not uphold them, it will not be stained, such as when admonishing. Except for alcohol, etc., all other precepts are permitted.

Indeed, when the last two months of summer arrive, if an evil bhikshu reaches his own dwelling and slanders a novice or causes him to fall into wrong views, in order to avoid this, it is permitted to sleep for the remainder of the night. Because (it is said in the sutra): "If an evil bhikshu dwells nearby." It can also be established by reasoning, because it is more important to protect the obstacles to others' discipline than to protect these precepts. Third, if one does not stay overnight in a bhikshuni's sangha, higher paths will not arise in the continuum of others, but if one stays overnight, higher paths will arise, if one is certain inwardly, it is permitted to stay overnight and teach the Dharma, such as when the Venerable Shariputra taught the Dharma to the bhikshuni Paldenma throughout the night, and the path of seeing arose. It can also be established by reasoning, because it is more important to protect the obstacles to the arising of higher paths in the continuum of others than to protect these precepts. Second, there are three types of non-offenses due to having the conditions of non-principal obstacles: non-offenses due to having the conditions of bodily obstacles, obstacles to resources, and obstacles to merit. First, if one protects certain precepts, one will waste one's own and others' bodies, but if one does not protect them, one will not waste them, if one is certain inwardly that there is no other way, then one should examine which of these two needs to be avoided more, if protecting the precepts is more important, it is not permitted. If protecting the obstacle to the body is more important, it is permitted, because it is permitted for the sick and those who care for the sick to sleep with the light of a lamp. Because (it is said in the sutra): "In order to accomplish this, there is no fault in the sick and those who care for the sick dwelling together." Second, when war and thieves occur, if one protects certain precepts of touching jewels and so on, one will waste one's own and others' resources, but if one does not protect them, one will not waste them, if one is certain inwardly that there is no other way, then one should examine as before, if protecting the precepts is more important, it is not permitted. If protecting the obstacle to resources is more important, it is permitted, because (it is said in the sutra): "If one encounters fear, if it does not harm oneself, one should take the stupa or the property of the sangha or the hidden gold and leave." Third, if one protects certain precepts, one will not be able to accomplish the accumulation of merit for oneself and others, but if one does not protect them, one will be able to accomplish it, if one is certain inwardly that there is no other way, then one should examine which of these two needs to be avoided more, if protecting the precepts is more important
