And, reliance is destroyed because it is known as death to death. Sixth, the thought of holding is: wearing the patchwork robe is to distinguish it from heretics and those who have not taken full ordination, so hold this thought; wearing the upper and lower garments is to abandon being naked above and below, so hold this thought; hold all utensils because they are all threatened by impermanence. For necessary utensils, hold the thought of offering to the Three Jewels or nourishing the body for the sake of the Dharma; for extra utensils, such as a second garment, hold the thought that it belongs to the Khenpo or others. All small items that are less than an elbow's length should be examined with the mind. Seventh, the person who enjoys it is generally held by those who have taken full ordination and have discipline, especially the patchwork robe should be held by a Bhikshu. Eighth, the ritual of enjoyment is: abandoning wastefulness, disrespect, wearing the upper garment as the lower garment, and changing the signs, etc., and should be held. Ninth, the necessity of blessing is: actually, the downfall of holding extra clothes will not occur, and indirectly, the benefit of separating from attachment will arise. Tenth, how to complete at the end: if it is old and used up, it should be repaired with patches, or sewn together, or if it is torn, it should be sewn up, etc.; if it cannot be repaired, it should be mixed with soil and heavy objects, etc., and for the purpose of the benefactor accumulating merit, it should be applied to the yellow part of the temple or stupa, etc. Third, the basis of leather is divided into two parts: showing the difference between the central and border regions, and the way of showing leather in the border regions. The first part is: in short, the east is the forest in front of the Likara tree growth, called the place where the Likara trees are lush. The south is the south of the reed land, called that river. The west is the two pillars near the Brahmin village, called the pillars. The north is the Ushira mountain. It is said that the parts of these places that are inside the central Magadha are the central regions, and any parts of these places that are outside are the border regions. The second part is that shoes and leather are allowed to be shown in the border regions, and their characteristics are bright colors and shapes like gold, etc.

Boots decorated with leather and making clattering sounds are not suitable. Leather from elephants, horses, donkeys, etc., is not suitable. In places where water freezes into ice, hats and boots with buckles are also allowed. Secondly, regarding the basis for relying on medicine as a cause for comfortable living, there are two aspects: the general meaning and clarifying doubts about the meaning of the scriptures. The first has two parts: the purpose and the concise meaning. First, there is a need to rely on medicine because it leads to a long life and the prolonged increase of virtuous activities, and because it alleviates illness and leads to a comfortable life. Furthermore, there is also the need to manifestly increase the merit of the benefactor and to protect the precepts established by the Buddha. Second, there are six aspects: the cause, the divisions, the definitions, the manner of blessing, the suitable house for cooking and storing, the agreeable activities, and the manner of consumption. First, that medicine should be obtained from a basis that is free from wrong livelihood and possesses a correct livelihood. Second, dividing medicine according to the differences in characteristics, there are four types: medicine that can be used at any time, medicine that can be used at specific times, medicine that lasts for seven days, and sustaining medicine. The reason for the definite number of these four is that the Blessed One spoke of four medicines, and did not speak of others besides these, and also because there is no medicine that is not included in these. Third, there are two aspects: the general definition and the individual definitions. First, food that combines the three sense bases of smell, taste, and touch is the definition of medicine. Second, whichever medicine is primarily for curing the illness of hunger, that is the definition of the first. Whichever medicine is primarily for curing the illness of thirst, that drink possessing three qualities is the definition of the second. The three qualities are: being made from any of the three medicinal substances, being a drink in essence, and being very thin. Whichever medicine is primarily for curing both the illnesses of hunger and aggregation, that is the definition of the third. Whichever medicine is primarily for curing the illness of aggregation, that is the definition of the fourth. Fourth, the manner of blessing has two aspects: the purpose and the concise meaning. First, there is a need to bless medicine because there is a need to abide in contact with comfort, to prevent hoarding, and to reach the boundary of the precepts. First
