The Three Bas. Here, regarding the non-establishment of one aspect of the subject-property as the subject, there are two cases: establishing the class-general as the subject, and establishing the aggregate-general as the subject. In the first case, two examples are given, the latter being without fault, and the meaning of the second example also being said to be without fault is: the first example is the intention of the debater, therefore the non-establishment of one aspect of the subject-property is faulty. In the latter case, establishing all sounds as impermanent by the sign of effort-born is not the intention of the debater, therefore the non-establishment of one aspect of the subject-property is not faulty. The debater does not wish to establish the collection in all three modes, but wishes to establish each one individually, therefore the non-establishment of each one is obviously not faulty, so says Yongdzin Dampa. In the case where one aspect of the sign is not established on the subject-property, the effort-born is also established on only one aspect of sound, and not established on one aspect, which is said to be without fault, this is to establish the previous tenet. For non-establishment in the mind, there are three: doubt about the subject-property, the sign, and the relationship between the two, leading to non-establishment. The third is: the division of non-establishment for the two types of debaters is explained by dividing it into two, this is a summarizing verse. The word "part" is connected to the debater, which is due to a lack of understanding. Thus, non-establishment in meaning is divided into two: the non-establishment of the nature of the subject-property and the sign, from which six are divided. Non-establishment in the mind is divided into six from three, totaling twelve. The parts that become faults due to the non-establishment of one aspect of the dharma and the subject-property are all included in the non-establishment of the nature of the sign. The others are faultless aspects of the dharma. The faults that depend on the tenets refer to the acceptance of the tenets, but if correct, they are included in the non-establishment of the nature of the subject-property or the sign in meaning. The second is the uncertain, there are three. The definition of the uncertain is: the sign that establishes the dharma and the subject-property and causes doubt about the opposite. The second is the division of the signified, there are the uncommon and the common. The definition of the first is: the unknowable sign that is not established on either of the two sides other than the subject-property that is being investigated and desired to be known is the definition of the uncommon uncertain. If divided, there are four, from not existing in both and not

For example, to prove that sound is permanent, like audible things. Although it exists but is not seen, for example, to prove that this person has transmigrated from the heavens, like having eyes. Although it exists in the similar side but is not seen, for example, to prove that sound is impermanent, like taking what is made as the reason and the sound of the Vedas as examples. Although it exists in the dissimilar side but is not seen, whatever is made is impermanent, like the Vedas. Space is not made. That is what is said. Second, regarding the common uncertain reason, there are two. The definition is: belonging to either of the two sides other than the side, is the definition of the common uncertain. Second, if classified, there are two uncertain reasons: substantial and residual. The definition of the first is: as the property of the subject being established, although seen in both sides, its opposite cannot be determined. If classified, there are four types. The second has two types of residual: correct and contradictory. Among the residual, what is seen in the similar side and not seen in the other dissimilar side is the correct residual. Whatever is seen in the dissimilar side and not seen in the similar side is the contradictory residual. Each of these two has three types, and their examples are in the commentary. Third, regarding the contradictory, there are three. The first is: the reason, that is, as the property of the subject being established, if pervaded by the opposite, it is the contradictory reason. Second, the detailed classification includes: classifying from the aspect of objects, classifying from the aspect of intended expression, and refuting the view that there are other classifications. The first is divided into two from the perspective of relationship, and divided into three from the perspective of statement. The first has two, the way of becoming two is: from the perspective of relationship, there are only two contradictory reasons, that is, all non-apprehensions are included in the non-apprehension of self-nature, and by establishing this as the cause of establishment, the name of the result of establishment can be established, therefore it is the reason of fame. By summarizing it into the reason of self-nature, it becomes the reason of the nature of the result, therefore the contradiction of the opposite of the two is also two. The first is: sound is permanent, because it is made. The second is: the sound of the Vedas is permanent, because it is produced by effort. That is what is said. Second, regarding the contradiction of the result, in order to eliminate the dispute, there are two: dispute and answer. First, the reason is not contradictory, because what is produced by effort is the result of permanence. If so, there are four answers. First, the establishment of hearing as the result of the impermanence of sound is: the sound of the Vedas is the object of hearing.
