Because it is known that way to all. Thirdly, dharma and dharmin are not what is to be established, because their characteristics are considered without establishment and exclusion, and are considered measurable, and because they do not exist. Secondly, the standard of measurement considers without establishment and exclusion, and is considered the basis for measuring the dharma to be established, which is the characteristic of the dharmin that wants to be known. In particular, the desire to know for one's own sake is taken by the debater, and the desire for others is taken by the opponent. The establishment of that desire to know, according to how it is established by any of the signs, manifest or subsequent, is the characteristic of the paksha dharma. Secondly, there are three: refutation, establishment, and abandonment. The first has three. First, stating the former paksha, Lo phyā tsa, a follower of Shānti, says: That which possesses the dharma to be established is the similar class, and that which does not possess it is the dissimilar class, and thinking that the two classes are directly contradictory, all knowables are determined to be two classes, either substance or negation. According to the first way, when establishing emptiness as non-affirming negation, if the substance of the pot is the similar class, then the pot's impermanence etc. will also become non-affirming negation. If it is the dissimilar class, then the pot being empty of true existence will also not have the name of non-affirming negation, so both are unreasonable. If the substance of the pot is a third category, then it is contradictory to determine it as either one. Furthermore, if it is determined as negation, when establishing impermanence by causation, if only knowable is the similar class, then permanence is impossible in knowable. If it is the dissimilar class, then impermanence is impossible. If it is the third category, then the determination as negation is lost. Because of the suspicion that a third category arises, some Tibetans who do not understand the realm of valid cognition, when establishing dharmas that depend on substance, such as fire and impermanence, determine it as substance. Even if there is a third category for negation, there is no fault, because for negation, there is no distinction between refutation and establishment. When establishing dharmas that depend on negation, such as the term "reason" and "non-affirming negation," it is determined as negation. Even if there is a third category for substance, there is no fault, because for substance, there is no refutation or establishment, thus distinguishing and speaking. There are also two ways of establishing: when establishing the dharma of substance, establishing it as the same entity, and establishing it as having difference. The dharma of negation only establishes dependence on its own negation, so there are three, they say. Secondly, to refute that

It is unreasonable to determine by dividing into two cases. It is unreasonable to prove by separating substance and negation. In particular, it is unreasonable to prove based on self-negation. In the first case, it is unreasonable to determine two aspects from two cases. No matter how substance and negation are separated, it is impossible to determine that they are two aspects, because experts also see that substance and negation that apply to both aspects are established. For example, when proving that a mountain has fire, if gray matter is taken as the reason, if gray matter is homogeneous, then steam will also have fire; if it is not heterogeneous, then smoke will also be without fire. If gray matter can be both cases, then the determination of two cases will fail. Similarly, when proving that the sound of a conch is produced by effort, if the ability to perform a function is taken as the reason, if the ability to perform a function is homogeneous, then lightning and the like will also have production by effort; if it is not heterogeneous, then bottles and the like will also not be produced by effort. If it is both cases, then the determination of two cases will fail. Furthermore, if negation is determined, when proving that what is made is the reason, if the three modes are complete, if only what is knowable is homogeneous, then only what is knowable will become the correct reason; if it is not heterogeneous, if what is knowable pervades the three modes, then it will become a contradictory reason, and if it does not pervade, then the three modes are not what is knowable. The second case, if examining the destruction of nomenclature, then it is unreasonable, too extreme, nomenclature is contradictory, and it is not the intention of the scholar. The first case is that if proof and refutation are done in terms of meaning, then the difference between the objects of inference and valid cognition will not be understood, because it is said that "external objects are not dependent, sound is meaning." If proof and refutation are done in terms of consciousness, then there will be a homogeneous aspect that is certainly existent, a heterogeneous aspect that is certainly non-existent, and a single aspect that is uncertain, for a total of three aspects. The second case is that the first of the three bases of relation will not exist, because it is not desired that the subject of knowledge is a case other than the two cases. If it is desired, then in this view that does not desire the first of the three bases of relation, it is difficult to establish the definition of the property of the subject. If it is asked what the definition of the property of the subject is, according to your view, because there is no aspect, it is not called the property of the subject. In the case of the correct definition of the first mode, to know
