If one says "dharma," does it mean "the dharma of the possessor of dharma," or "the dharma of dharma," or "the dharma of the meaning of collection"? Would such usage lead to confusion? It would not, because all words are understood through the power of context. These three words have three usages: when establishing the definition of reasoning, it is used for the possessor of dharma that one wants to know; in the case of pervasion, it is used for dharma; and in the case of what is to be proven, it is used for the meaning of collection, so there is no confusion, just like the word "Senbhava." The third question is the difference between real names and imputed names, thinking about real and imputed dharmas. The first question is: although there is no object that is real in meaning, however, because one wants to express it without relying on other needs and reasons, the name agreed upon at the time of the initial agreement is the real name. When understanding its meaning, its own state will also appear. A name that is known based on that meaning, because it is agreed upon with other things due to certain needs and reasons, the name that is understood with confusion about other things is considered an imputed name. When understanding its meaning, its state will also appear depending on other things. For example, calling "Nok" etc. "cow" is a real name, and calling a foolish person an imputed name is like that. Second, thinking about the real dharma in the meaning of collection, thinking about the imputed dharma in the two parts. First, for the meaning of collection, the word "aspect" (ཕྱོགས་) is used as a real name, because it has been established from the beginning for internal and external scholars. Second, the reason for imputation, the necessity of imputation, and the three harms to the real. First, a name is used as an imputed name for other meanings, relying on any reason of similarity or connection, such as the thing called "medicine crow's foot," and calling the sun's rays the sun, and calling alcohol intoxication, etc. Here, the name of the aspect is established in the two parts, just as when one side of the cloth is burned, it is said that the cloth is burned, it is the establishment of the name of the collection in the part. Second, if there is no need, it is unreasonable to establish the name of one thing in another thing, to this there are three situations: the necessity of establishing dharma as what is to be proven, the necessity of establishing the possessor of dharma as what is to be proven, and the elimination of the refutation that the established is the same as the unestablished aspect. First, it is necessary to establish dharma as the name of what is to be proven, if it is not established in this way,

If it is said that pervasion follows the dharma, then because dharma has that which should be established and that which should be refuted, it might be thought that pervasion is also established in contradictory reasons, thereby mistakenly thinking that it has become a correct reason. Is it to avoid this situation? Or is it because in some cases, it is named in order to have a good combination? Secondly, there is also a need to call the subject of dharma "paksha" (side, or thesis). If one says "the dharma of the subject of dharma," since there are three types of subjects of dharma, there might be a misconception: is that which is apprehended by eye consciousness, which exists in the subject of dharma of dissimilar examples, also the first way to establish sound as impermanent? If one prevents statements such as "that which is established in the dharma of the subject of dharma is the dharma of the paksha, and the subject of dharma refers to the object of debate," it will take a long time. If one says the direct name "the dharma of the subject of dharma that one wants to know," it is uncomfortable because the letters are uneven since the three modes are stated. And, it will ruin the combination of "the dharma of the paksha, the presence or absence of similar instances," and so on. Therefore, in order to avoid such faults and to easily understand the first mode, the subject of dharma is called "paksha." Thirdly, are the arising or non-arising of wrong conceptions the same for both paksha and the subject of dharma? Because there are three objects to which the word "paksha" applies, there might be a misconception: do all three of these have a reason, and is it also the first mode? If this misconception arises, then establishing sound as impermanent by that which is apprehended by eye consciousness, will also give rise to the same misconception as before: is the reason (as) the dharma of the paksha, existing on the object to be inferred, and possessing both pervasion and exclusion, therefore a correct reason? It is not the same, although it is true that the word "paksha" is a general term, there is a difference from the perspective of famous and not famous. Because the word "paksha" related to the phrase "the dharma of the paksha" does not refer to the general aspect, but to the specific object of debate itself. For example, hands and other things also exist in others, but if it is related to the word "having," then the word "having a hand" does not refer to humans and so on, but to the elephant itself. Similarly, although the word "subject of dharma" is a general term, even if it is related to the word "dharma," the word "subject of dharma" cannot necessarily determine the first mode. For example, the general term "head," even if it is related to the word "having," does not refer to the specific elephant itself, but to all things that have a head, just like that.
