If someone says that even if one realizes emptiness, etc., one will still regress if one does not exert effort. These three cases cannot be taken as examples of the three qualities of love, etc., growing infinitely through habituation, because jumping depends on physical effort, and subsequent jumps do not arise from the previous jumps. Boiling water is unstable before the fire burns. In general, there are two types of remedies for curing diseases: those that regress and those that do not. The first is like using a cardamom formula to treat phlegm. Gold, etc., when burned by fire, will return to their hard nature, which is a remedy that produces restoration. Like using laxatives to treat phlegm, burning with wood, etc., is a remedy that does not regress. The second part includes presenting the debate and two answers. The first view is that some non-Buddhists believe that by habituating emptiness, one may transform into the state of emptiness, and therefore will not be reborn in samsara. By habituating compassion, one may transform into the state of compassion, and therefore engaging in altruistic activities is natural. However, since time and space, etc., are infinite in every aspect, the objects of knowledge are not limited, just like the edge of the sky and the number of sentient beings. If one does not know these, one will not become omniscient. If one knows them, one will become a deluded person, because one knows things that should not be known, just like seeing a rabbit's horn. Therefore, they say that it is difficult to prove with reason the omniscient one who knows all objects of knowledge. The second part includes: the omniscient one who knows all the necessary meanings and the omniscient one who knows all objects of knowledge. The first is: knowing the Four Noble Truths as they are, this is the omniscient one who knows all the necessary meanings, because one will not be deceived about the meaning of the Four Noble Truths, which are the main causes and effects of entering and liberation from samsara, and it is established by valid cognition. It is like saying, "Everyone is gathered, and all the medicines are complete." As it is said, "The truth of what should be accepted and what should be abandoned is..." Therefore, if one wants to be liberated from samsara, it is enough to know all the methods, because the wise call the one who knows all the necessary meanings the omniscient one. Why is it necessary to know unnecessary things, such as the number of insects, etc.? Because "everything is included..." Therefore, the middle is summarized with verses. The second is: or, knowing all objects of knowledge themselves

I am established through inference. If one trusts what is seen in subtle and difficult things, one can see coarse and easy things, just as seeing dust in sunlight allows one to trust in seeing a vase. The Omniscient also sees the subtle and difficult meaning of the Four Noble Truths, which is established through signs. The reality of what should be taken and abandoned is well determined with skillful means. (Pramāṇavārttika) and so on. What needs to be said for kalpas also appears simultaneously in a mirror. Similarly, all the limitless knowable things are known simultaneously in one instant by the wisdom of transformation, which is an intermediate verse. Second, apparent perception is divided into two. First, the definition: All conceptual and non-conceptual errors are considered apparent perception, because they are erroneous consciousnesses. Second, dividing it by type, there are two types: conceptual and non-conceptual. Non-conceptual is also divided into two types: mental consciousness and sense consciousness errors. There are three types of conceptual: those based on conventions, those that impute onto other things, and those that have hidden objects. In the Compendium, it is explained by dividing into six, but here it is explained by condensing into three, which is to dispel wrong conceptions, because errors and conventional conceptions are considered sense consciousness by outsiders. In order to refute this view, they are classified into one category. Inference and the conceptions arising from inference both rely on signs. Conceptions of memory and desire do not depend on both perception and signs. Third, examining valid cognition and result, which are the valid cognition and result of perception and inference. The first part is divided into three, the first is to refute other's views. The Mimamsakas believe that first, seeing the object, that is, the non-conceptual consciousness that initially manifests the object is valid cognition, and then the conceptual consciousness that determines the nature and difference of the object is considered the result of valid cognition. As it is said: "First, the one who sees the object," etc., "That is considered the result." They say so. That is not reasonable, if it is different from the object, it cannot be established as seeing the object. The Vaisheshikas believe that the union of the senses and the object is valid cognition, and knowing the object from it is the result. As it is said: "The union born from the union of the senses and the object is the result of valid cognition."
