So. Third, self-cognizant perception is threefold. First, the definition is: recognizing one's own nature, that is, the apprehending aspect of experience, is the definition of self-cognizant perception, as scholars believe. Second, the refutation of debate is: some argue that self-cognition is not valid because there is no duality of knower and known. If one can know even without duality, then it is similar to production from oneself, as in the Samkhya school. There is no opportunity for self-cognition and self-production to be the same, because self-production is merely the production of something manifest from oneself that was previously unmanifest, so if oneself is established, there is no need to produce it, and if one is not established, one cannot produce it. Self-cognition, on the other hand, is merely the production of oneself as knowing, turning away from matter, therefore, for that reason. Third, examining whether it is valid or not: then, is all self-cognition valid? It has already been said that it is impossible for all perception to be non-valid. Fourth, in yogic perception, identifying the nature. The way it becomes a valid cognition of an object. And the valid cognition that establishes it. First, there is definition, classification, and consideration of causes. First, dividing into two, first, refuting the views of others: some Tibetans separate yogic perception and its valid cognition, defining the latter as: born from the mind that is accustomed to the cause of that very nature, and cutting off superimpositions with the power of experience on the true meaning that was previously not realized, which is mistaken. The reason is the same as before. Second is: the unerring wisdom arising from meditation is the definition of yogic perception. Those with erroneous samadhi, such as the samadhi of cessation, are also like that. Second, classifying by basis: Hearers, Solitary Realizers, Great Vehicle, that is, three types of yogic perception of the three noble ones. Among them, Hearers have two types, those in training and those beyond training. Solitary Realizers have no training, so there is only one type, those beyond training. The Great Vehicle has five types, based on those in training and those beyond training. Second, classifying by essence: those five are classified into ten types, because each has a distinction between with-appearance and without-appearance, so there are two of each. Third, the cause of the two wisdoms. The time when those are perfected. Three differences in the result depending on the means. The first is: meditation and aspiration, and various other means, and wisdom, the well-cultivated emptiness, are the two results.
